So I have been trying to move more, I have my MFP/Fitbit set to sedetary. So today my fit bit has added over 1200 calories to my daily intake :) Downside is I have weighed and measured my food and added some healthier choices today as well as some halloween candy. But I still have 600 calories left to eat. I sure don't need anymore candy and I am full. Do I eat these calories or half the calories that were added? Most people say only eat half your exercise calories back due to over calculations is that the same with fit bit adjustments or are you supposed to eat all those calories

I can't help, but what did you do to get an extra 1200 cals?

Others who can help may want to know too.

    Cheers, h.

Without knowing any details, 1200 exercise calories sounds like a huge overestimation. I don't have a Fitbit but would question this number first and foremost.

Just checked to make sure it was a 1247 calorie adjustment from fitbit. I walked a lot in the times I can just fitting in extra steps. I don't log exercise to either site it is just extra steps so not double counting. I have both set to lose 2lbs a week so daily calories usually around 1390 before adjustment. I just don't want to under eat but not sure with fitbit if we are supposed to eat all of adjustment calories or only half.

Thanks not a huge peanut butter fan but that is a way to get calories in quick. I actually think I may have some nuts though that would work

1247 extra calories is crazy high. I'd only eat 1/2 or less but you could always try eating them all for a few weeks and see how it goes if you're really wanting to eat them all.

I also use fitbit. I worked out hard today for 60 minutes and hit my step goal of 10k steps. My fitbit gave me 800 calories from all that. Maybe you have a larger frame and therefore burn more calories. I would not estimate these numbers to be correct. I have read that some will eat back up to half, but i dont even feel comfortable doing that. Im just not confident enough that it is a correct figure, to deviate far from my daily allotment of calories (which for me is 1400- fitbit rec. more but I feel good at that amount). Today I went about 200 over to enjoy an awesome dinner, but I can still be solidly confident in my deficit! Those are my feelings about "eating back" those extra burned calories. I love my fitbit, but its just a tool that gives data. Its up to us what to do with it!

It depends on how well your Fitbit knows you.

If you've had it a few weeks, you should eat all the calories back.

If you keep doing that for a month and find you're not losing (assuming you're weighing and logging your food accurately in MFP) then eat back less fitbit calories.

People say to only eat back 50-75% exercise calories meaning the MFP exercise entries that you log manually, or gym weight machine ones. Fitbits are generally pretty accurate.

With over 100lbs to lose you need to be eating more than 1200cals per day before you even factor in exercise calories. Did you set your profile for aggressive weight loss? Maybe set it for a lower weight loss, this will give you a higher daily calorie allowance.
