Gaining weight

Hi I started off at 12lb 10 and I started running again, I went down to 12lb 6 in a week I had made small changes to my diet, but I still find I am terrible in the evenings
Anyhow I have had bad evenings last week and this week I find I have put on weight, going to 12lb 11
I am completely devastated and de motivated. I went for a run this morning, I do weights and I am trying to limit what I eat - in all fairness, I have two slim fasts during the day but in the evening, it all goes to pots
how can one reduce what they eat in the evenings? we went out with friends last week, then went out with the husband and today he ordered a pizza (even though I did make a healthy meal)
I get so tempted by food so I try not to have unhealthy food everywhere but my husband who is very skinny loves his take outs, mcdonalds and sweets and when its near I cannot help myself

If you're eating only two shakes during the day, no wonder you get hungry in the evenings. Most of us would struggle to control ourselves after only drinking liquids all day.
Have you tried eating food throughout the day to see if that helps you not eat more than you planned for the evening?0 -

Has it occurred to you that maybe the deprivation during the day is making it harder at night? Maybe you could switch it up for a while. Ditch the slim fasts during the day and replace them with good SATISFYING food of similar calories, or maybe eat a big breakfast and lunch and let dinner be more of a snack meal (or even the new slmifast meal?) It could be you are just working so hard on your willpower during the day, that by night you haven't got any emotional energy left to keep it up. Maybe if you were to spread out your calories a little more, you wouldn't feel like you're busting butt all day and then failing at night because you wouldn't be busting butt so hard all day?0 -
I cut my night eating by telling myself NO!, but I really meant it.
Maybe you could eat less during the day and save up calories so that you could eat more at night?
Your story is common as it relates to those shakes. Some people do really well with them (and maybe you'll be one of those people!), but many people end up starving and eating tons of food because the shakes just didn't cut it. If you think that might be an issue you're having (or want to find out), try eating regular food instead of drinking shakes and see if that cuts the desire to eat at night. That's another option.
Or you can be very stern with yourself, as I was, and not give in to you when you beg yourself for cookies. I have to say, though, telling me NO! was much harder than telling kids No. I was quite spoiled and argued with myself a lot. It's a good thing I was strict with me.0 -
Also, slim fast only have like 200 calories, how are you getting by with only 400 calories during the day and still going overboard at night when your activity level is as high as it is? What are your daily calories set at?0

Hi I set my calories at 1200.
I am on maternity leave, so I am up during the night to feed my daughter and I get up at around 10 in the morning, give the baby to my sister for a couple of hours while I go for a run. I burn average around 500-600 calories and then I do some weights and sit ups.
Then I have a slim fast shake and spend the day taking my daughter places- not food places, which I tend to avoid, although I do indulge in starbucks when I come across one which isn't often (those darn xmas drinks)... then in the evenings I make a meal, but I make potatoe/rice or something to bulk my sons meals up and I have some too. For example yesterday I made pies, even made the batter myself with home made mash and veg.
All was going well until my husband got some chocolate fudge cake and had it with the boys and its like heroin to an addict, I had a small bite and then another small bite and then a wedge.
It is when my boys and my husband get home and they have foods which are unhealthy, I cant stop myself. its non stop bite here, bite there and then this feeling of self loathing before bed
I go back to work 1st December, maybe things might be different then but I have a party next weekend and I was hoping to get into a size 14 comfortably for then but doesn't seem likely now0
