So I only wanted to lose a stone so I'm not sure if it's because I don't have alot to lose or I am also on a depo shot which could also be a factor. But I'm losing a pound every two weeks instead of weekly, I'm not rushing myself but I was just thought it seamed like a slower process compared to what the average weight loss is weekly. :? Unsure..

that seems pretty decent, so a half a pound a week.

Sounds like you're right on target. With so little weight to lose, the loss is slower. Also, slower can often equal sustainable. Which is good news.

Thankyou for your replies I did think it could be because of not much to lose to begin with but wanted to double check.

My weight loss is crazy slow. I have medical issues like an underactive thyroid and a really slow metabolism. I am under the care of an endocrinologist who advises me to eat 1000 calories per day. I'm really on this but not losing any weight. I also strength train three evenings per week and try to walk two days for about 1/2 hour. Can't give up health is more important than weight loss and it will happen. (I hope)

Sounds like a decent rate of loss to me.

Some things that may be slowing your loss:
Do you use a food scale and weigh your food portions out?
Do you eat back all of your exercise calories and how are you determining your calorie burns?

Also water retention from things like exercise, excess sodium, glycogen replenishment, ovulation, period, etc can mask weight loss.

But really, I think you've got a pretty good rate of loss going.

And most conservative, health-oriented sources seem to encourage a slow loss rate if you have only a little to lose, among other things because it can help you avoid losing unnecessary amounts of muscle along with the fat.

I get so frustrated with my weight loss. Since starting, the rate I have lost at has been roughly 2lbs per week - I know that is good (right?) considering I am out to lose 100 lbs, but I guess for some reason I wanted it to happen quicker. I just try to focus more on my overall weight loss, which is obviously a larger number, and tell myself I am still losing weight - even if it is not at the pace I want. Good luck with your journey! :)

Think about it this way...at the rate you are losing, you would lose 26 pounds in a year. 26 pounds is significant and a huge accomplishment. Studies also show that if you lose a small amount consistently over time, you are more likely to keep it off. Keep up the good work!

Thankyou all for your kind words and support, I realise now that it is a sensible amount to lose and that I should be patient and not rush this, thanks all!
