I totally agree, you have to love yourself. Once you start adding in hate & disgust, you can easily derail your journey to health. I was also very unhappy at 120 pounds overweight. When i start to feel the negative thoughts, i try to make sure to turn them into positives.
As to getting motivated, that is such an individual thing. My initial motivation was to get off some of my meds, then to get my numerous health issues under control. My motivation now is i love how I am feeling.
Take this one step at a time & remember it will not happen overnight, this is for life. Start adding in healthy foods at one meal, then 2. Or if you are like me i jumped right in over the course of a week. Add in a bit of exercise like walking

I completely understand how you feel. I weigh about the same. I hate looking into mirrors, shopping for clothes, I have even gotten to were I'm to embarrassed to go outside or even out to eat... Maybe if your up to it we can set a goal together and work together to achieve it a little at a time. It's the progress not perfection right.... lol :-)

I understand. I saw myself in a picture taken at a work luncheon and that was the moment I made my decision. There is so much support on MFP, come back every day . . . not just the days you do well. Use MFP, read the posts, make friends who will support you. Every step you take towards health counts no matter how small you think it is. Have reasonable expectations. You can do anything you put your mind to. Have faith!

MFP should be a place people can come to without fear of judgement, especially for typing or spelling mishaps.

One day at a time....maybe one hour at a time. If a mirror sends you into self-judgment, just don't go there :) Replacement activity is so important....get a tool box full of "go-to's." Instead of eating, take a nap, take a walk, call or text a friend, come here and make friends!

    I like these ideas!!!

Sometimes you just have to do the action before you embrace the feeling! I absolutely did not want to do chores yesterday...but I did them anyway otherwise it would be staring me in the face each day I let it go on. I'm decluttering my house one day, one item at time.

You are taking a stand when you logged on here to MFP. If that's all you do today, that is enough.
We all have felt that way at one point or another. But each of us who have gained success in our efforts did so cause they choose to overcome how they felt with one small itty bitty step, a day at a time.

How do you eat an elephant....one bite a time.

So pat yourself on the back. You can do this!

The first step is to embrace who you are. We all have to remember that losing weight isn't easy. Just focus on one day at a time and one pound at a time. You can do it!

Welcome...I'm not new, but starting over again, I'm in the 200's to so I sent you a friend request. Right now I'm focusing on one meal at a time, and starting slowly working out (till I get some heart test done the drs don't want me over doing it I'm doing a mile walk on my days off and a plank challenge.)

OP, there is nothing you can do about the past, you only have control over today. Put your stats into MFP and if it helps, pick a small goal, like half a pound per week. And just start logging. Eventually it will become a habit and you won't always need to rely on motivation. Pick one small thing to change each week, something you KNOW you can do. The little things may seem like a waste of time, but doing nothing would be a far worse waste of time, right?

You can do it, MFP is full of normal people who have. Best of luck :)

OP, you are wonderful and beautiful! We all are!! You already took the first step by seeking out help. Set small achievable goals. For example, a goal could be to not skip meals. To add a vegetable to every meal, to walk for 15 minutes 3 times a week or everyday. You choose goals thats important to you and achievable and work on that while logging here on mfp. You will have ups and downs (we all do) but you can do it.

I know how you feel. I think most people on this site have been there. The worst is when I saw a picture of myself fishing with my son....i was literally 2x as wide as him. Then I went to the doctor a few months later and stepped on the scale. That did it. I finally had proof that I was obese and I had to change. I have never been this big! Not even when I was 9 months pregnant....ugggghhhh
But since june I have lost a little over 20 pounds. I have slipped many times, I skipped gym days, but i kept going forward. At first I had to treat it like a job. I "had" to eat healthy 90% of the time. I "had" to go for a walk or do something active everyday. Then It got easier and I started to enjoy it again. But it did not happen over night. I feel good. My body doesnt hurt. I have more energy. I dont sweat walking up the stairs. I might be able to get off my blood pressure meds if I loose another 30 pounds. I hope by next year at this time I will be back in some of my old clothes.
You can do this. You are already making a step. You are on here and saying you want things to change. Surround yourself with the right people. This site is full of people that will help you and share their stories with you. I have over 60 pounds to loose, and everyday I have to check in with myself.
    Dont give up.
