Stolen fitbit?

Have any of you ever had your fitbit stolen? My Zip was a couple of weeks ago at the state fair. I wore it to the fair and when I got home it was not on my person. The next day somebody logged 7000 steps on it. LOL.
I don't see the point in stealing a fitbit because if you don't have the product code you cannot connect it to the app.
Feeling really sad about it because it was free and I don't want to buy one.

I might have just lost it though.

I've lost a couple. I am ashamed to say I am completely hooked and replaced them both times within days. Won't live without my zip. Won't wear it to the pool any more either.

I am getting a MOOV because I can wear it in the pool.

Why do you assume it was stolen? Sounds more likely that you dropped it and someone picked it up. If it makes you feel any better, the Zips aren't that expensive.

Wouldn't all the opportunistic have to do is take out the battery, reset the zip, and enter it's code on to a new account?

Doesn't the fitbit have to be within bluetooth range of the device it is connected to? If 7000 steps were logged the day after, that tells me it was still close enough to your device to sync. Maybe check purses/bags/pockets?

Not if you are using wifi sync

My Fitbit won't sync if it's not by my cell phone or manually on the computer. If someone took mine, I would have no idea where it was

Maybe I am too honest. If the fitbit was dropped and someone found it and didn't hand it in to an information booth or wherever and decided to keep it for themselves, I would still call that stealing, they knew it didn't belong to them and kept it anyways.....

According to this article (also posted above)...I don't think it will sync just because it's connected to wifi (unlike the Aria scale that syncs through wifi). https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/I-lost-my-Fitbit-tracker/?l=en_US&c=Topics:Lost_Stolen&fs=Search&pn=1

Yup, I agree with the people who say if it is synching, it's close. Fitbits only synchs if it is near your phone or the dongle in your PC, it can't synch otherwise. Go through your purse really well.

Why would you think someone stole it? Sounds lost.

I was looking at the site the other day and thought it said that they would sync with any phone with the app installed or any computer with the sync dongle in place, but that still would limit usefulness to anyone with access to the account.

I also agree with rechecking pockets and purses. Mine has fallen out of the holder into my bra a few times. It's possible the whole thing came loose.

It has to be close to you to sync and for you to see the steps. When I lost mine I went back to where I lost it and tried over and over to sync it to find it, but I never was close enough. I agree with the others- check whatever was with you when you lost it.
