So I've started this a million times but it never sticks. I really need for this to happen because now it's a health issue. I have asthma and being so out of shape makes triggering it pretty easy. I would really appreciate anyone who has any tips for motivation, recipes, or just for support! I'm currently at 188 and would like to be in between 130-140 lbs.

Just keep logging your calorie intake through the MyFitnessPal app..Know that you'll definitely lose weight if you take less then your normal needed calorie level. Apart from that keep logging in everyday, just like you do on facebook and reply to wall posts and also post whatever is on your mind to your own wall so people can do the same for you.
Motivation and support is so much easier when it is mutual.
Do not aim for how many kilo's/pounds you're going to have to lose..Instead aim for a daily target. And that is to eat less calories..but in a healthy way ofcourse..When you aim on daily goals, its much easier to achieve them...by this way you always keep yourself motivated.
IMO, you'll know when you've lost enough weight when you're comfortable and happy with your nude body in front of a mirror..because when you're not happy with how you look, the numbers don't realy matter.
At the end of the day, you'll get to the point you really want as long as you take it day by day, step by step.
Believe in yourself because a lot of people here, who have never even met you..........believe in you!

Thanks so much! That was great advice! I agree that the numbers don't matter if you're not happy when you look in a mirror

Ensure you use food scales, dont deny yourself anything you enjoy, simply eat less of it and log it. I eat much the same as i did before, just more portion control. Ive lost 42lbs in 187 days, its not always been easy, you will have bad days, but dont stress and just start again the next day. Take is slow and steady and dont expect results overnight. Feel free to add me as a friend if you feel i can help you in anyway x

50lbs ...around 9 months but I purposefully slowed it down because my goal was to stop yo-yoing . My initial target was 48lbs but it took a while to work out maintenance both calorie wise and psychologically

I started logging my food every day with MFP since Oct 15th. I have stayed at or just under my goals every single day now for 32 days. I'm pretty much eating any foods I want except fried foods, desserts, and skip all of the extra sauces I was putting on everything. The big change is in my portion size. My portions use to be huge, now I read the labels and measure out the correct amount. I also started walking for 1 hour a day 5 days a week at a very brisk pace. Additionally I started doing floor exercises. The first week I did just one floor exercise, I started with "fire hydrants". Every week I'm adding 1 new floor exercise so now I have 4 of them that I do 5 days a week. I'm not exercising on weekends, probably should but I have a busy family that wants to do and go all weekend long. I've lost 13 pounds in a month, still have 47 to go. I expect to loose around 1% each week so it will take me around 32 weeks to get to my goal. My ultimate goal is always in my mind but my main focus is every day to focus on eating healthy food and staying under my calorie goal. Each day is a new struggle to make the right choices but it is very doable.
