Powdered Greens

I've been taking a powdered greens drink every morning, but I'm not sure whether it does anything. Would I be better off investing in nutri bullet and making fresh green juices? Not sure which is best, and as the bullet and all the fresh veggies will be expensive, I'm trying to work out the best option. Any suggestions?

What are you trying to accomplish? Is there a reason you cannot eat your vegetables?

I think fresh is always better - but my brother in law adds greens to his smoothies which is a powdered additive. He finds this easier than worrying about having fresh on hand.

I have another company's version of the bullet, much less expensive, that I use for protein shakes. But I do not drink greens, I eat them in salads. I tried whirred greens a few times and did not like them, and to me, the identity of dried greens would be suspect, when I eat fresh greens I know they are washed and clean before I eat them.

I'm just going to jump in here and say that some people hate veggies. *raises hand tentatively*. Especially the green ones. *shakes fist at the green ones*
So it is sometimes necessary to find a way of getting them into your body without making yourself hate your meal.
As such, I shove a load of spinach into my protein shakes. Can't taste a thing, but still getting the nutrients.
If you hate the food you're eating, you'll fall off the bandwagon the moment the cake turns up.
Saying that, I'd much rather put fresh veggies into my blender than the powdered stuff. I tried something called Moringa, which is "a 100% organic, nutrient-dense wholefood made from the naturally dried leaf of the moringa tree. It is a rich source of plant protein and is high in ten essential vitamins and minerals."
It also tastes like mulch. Even half a teaspoon of the stuff. I vowed never to let it touch my food ever again. Bleugh. I've now started mixing spinach with other meals, and it's a good way of gradually getting veggies into your life.

Also, don't pay an extreme amount for a nutribullet, there are plenty of companies out there that offer identical blenders&bottles for a tiny fraction of the price.
I have a Breville Blend-Active, which cost me £20, and it's perfect. Does what the NB does, comes with two bottles, and is easy to clean.

Is the powder you're using a supplement (as in unregulated) or a food (has a nutrition label and ingredients list).

I'd be interested in seeing the label.

If you don't eat a broad spectrum of vegetables and you want to give yourself a good chance at not being deficient, a reasonable multivitamin might be all you need. If you really never eat vegetables, I'd say making smoothies or juicing with fresh would serve you better.

Do you eat fruit, seeds, nuts, beans?

I'd be a little weary of the powdered greens. I've used them before when I couldn't juice, or would add them to juice I've made, but I personally get more out of juicing. I went the blender route and got a Ninja Auto IQ, which I love for shakes and smoothies, but it wasn't great with the greens imo. I didn't care for the texture. I ended up purchasing an extruder juicer that makes amazing juice, you may want to look into that as well. I start my day with a kale, beer, carrot blend that is fantastic! It's low calorie, quick to make, it's fresh, and I know exactly what I'm getting.

I use the Amazing Grass Super Greens occasionally when I have a protein shake. I find that it gives me a ton of energy. I like it. I add a bunch of stuff to my protein shake it to make it more of a meal replacement than just a protein supplement.
I have a juicer too, but I like the ease of use of the powder vs. having to stock all the green veggies to make fresh.
I don't think the green powder is a replacement for juicing fresh veggies or eating them, but it is nice addition.
Since I find that it gives me so much energy I keep buying the powder (But my H reports no increased energy from the powder to *shrugs*)

My momma always taught me to eat my vegetables, I still eat them although she has been gone 30 years.

I eat plenty of fruit and veggies in my diet. I use the greens as a booster first thing in the morning. The one I use is from Bulk Powders and contains 7 different greens including spiralina. I just don't know whether juicing would be better, so can have a green smoothie in the morning instead.

A kale smoothie I find is a great way to cram nutrients into myself first thing in the morning! I blend kale and mango with coconut water and is super yum

That sounds awesome! I've been craving mango lately - can't seem to find any decent fresh ones around here.
