Sounds like a logical pyramid to a one rep max. Good job. I'm currently focusing on getting my dead numbers up as I feel that lift is lagging for me currently. Slow and steady.0

Sad to say... I bench more then I squat hahaha dont feel bad0
-
Niiiiiiiiiiiice! I'm knocking on the door of 200 myself. Soon.0

Congrats, that is awesome. I have been doing SL5x5 (doing 4 sets of 5 though due to 750 calorie deficit) for a while now, did 4x5 at 240 last. I'm looking forward to 275.
I would encourage you to work on your squat, so many benefits. I started squatting at 135 5 months ago and did 4x5 at 300 last.0 -
Knees hurt. Guess they are weak. I been riding the bike though. Did 14.7 miles saturday. Rode to work and around town and back
Squats 225 right now...

Good work... my wife benches 135 pretty easy couple sets of 5. She should try going heavy too soon0 -

that is a pretty solid number. congrats.
I am thinking if you are working out with 225 (3 sets of 10), you definitely got 300 in ya. Be careful and don't hurt yourself chasing a number though, had a few friends do that. At my age, I stopped trying to do 1 rep max...but I love to hear others push themselves. Awesome.0 -
Good job. Have you lifted heavy before? I mean are you regaining strength or did you just start lifting this year? If you just started those are impressive gains in strength.
I agree with knee wraps or sleeves, and get form coaching from someone knowledgeable. With the popularity of powerlifting and an explosion in crossfit and the Olympic lifts, there are more people than ever teaching and doing these basic lifts so it should be easy to find good coaching.
Don't ignore REAL knee dysfunction that makes squatting a detrimental exercise. Most people can squat ok, but you always hear the "don't blame your knees because you want an excuse not to squat" people, when some with real orthopedic problems shouldn't squat, or leg press or whatever. Most will find knee improvement, not aggrivation, with squatting though. Keep it up.0 -
Never lifted heavy before... 7 or 8 years ago I went to the gym some but never really got into it like now. This is my first ever attempt squatting deadlifting and free weights in general. So yeah I am sure these are newbie gains. I want to hit the 1000 lb mark combined weight in 3 main lifts by next winter. 300 bench 300 squat and 400 deadlift. I am less then 25 pounds away from. Two of them.. Squats are my weakness.. I don't use straps or chalk or gloves I Just got a belt... so I'm a new guy to all this..0

I'd definitely try and get your squat form right and work on that. It's going to be much easier to add 50-100lbs on your current squat number than it will be to jump another 25lbs in the bench. At a BW of 222, a 225lb squat isn't even at the "novice" level on the strength standards chart. I know those are somewhat arbitrary, but when you're between "advanced" and "elite" on your other two lifts and squat is that far behind...0 -
Awesome job man! 275 is an impressive push!0

Haha, maybe getting to 300 will be harder. Maybe not. Those are big jumps in strength in the bench. I dont think his squat and deadlift are that bad, it's just his bench is so strong for only lifting 6mo.0
