Juicing...

I started a juice diet today. And I'm struggling already. Just because I have two kids so I have to feed them and the smell of their food is killing me. Anybody else do juicing that can give me some advice or some motivation to stick with it!

why not just eat a balanced and nutritious diet? I juice, but only to supplement my veg consumption...you don't need to detox or any of that woo...your body is pretty good about doing that when you eat well and stay hydrated.0

I did juicing once, but it was only so I could fit more comfortably into my Halloween costume a few years ago, I wasn't doing it for long term reasons and only did it for a week just strictly for the costume. I lost 3 pounds and it worked well and I somehow managed to keep the weight off. The problem with juicing is that if you're not extremely careful then you can very easily gain it back.
I drank mostly juice but I craved chewing and needing to eat something too much just to strictly drink juice. So I ate small portions of food, very small and ate mostly lots of fruits and veggies which was basically juice only before it's put into the juicer lol.
That's my best advice for you on what I did, ate fruits and veggies when I didn't feel the want for juice and if I absolutely did need to eat it was a small portion of normal food.
But even I wouldn't recommend doing it for too long, maybe two weeks tops just to cleanse your body some. It will drive you up the wall.

A juice diet isn't going to help you with this though. You aren't going to get all the nutrition you need (like protein and fat) from juicing, which is why most people don't last long. Eventually, you are going to need to eat, and you need to learn how to eat for the rest of your life, so why not just start learning now?
You can get a food scale at Walmart for like $10. Log your food and start learning how to get the right amount of calories and enjoy your food, so you can lose the weight and keep it off. Good luck!0 -

You don't need to "cleanse" your body. Your liver, kidneys, and digestive system do that for you.0 -
Jucing by itself isn't going to make you lose weight; it all depends on what you put into the juice. In my opinion, you're much better off working on adjusting your calories and eating a balenced diet. Learn how to weigh and log your food, and use that to adjust your diet where you need to. Doing so will last much longer and give you sustainable results. If you want to juice, and some people do like it, use it to SUPPLIMENT your diet, not replace it. You'll feel much better and not be as hungry that way.0

The best I remember, I felt starved and then ate everything in sight afterwards.0 -
I got DD a Nutribullet a year ago because we're not breakfast eaters and a breakfast in a glass or jar was an easy way for her to get some calories to go about her day.
I drink smoothies most days with a ton of added supplements including vitamins.
That's what works for us; it sounds like juicing isn't working for you. Juice along with good healthy foods. Maybe speak to a nutritionist to help you along.

Eating the proper number of calories takes practice. The benefit of measuring and logging regular food is that it gives us "practice" in eating the proper amount. That helps with maintenance.....we learn something along the way.0 -

A juice diet isn't going to help you with this though. You aren't going to get all the nutrition you need (like protein and fat) from juicing, which is why most people don't last long. you still need to count calories to make sure you are at a deficit. I got my scale for 12 dollars.
Juicing does nothing but liquefy fruit. why not just eat the fruit?0 -

Is using the Nutribullet the same as juicing? The "juicers" I've seen remove the pulp/fiber from the liquid you drink. The Nutribullet liquifies the entire fruit (or at least what you have put in it) allowing you to injest the whole fruit, pulf and fiber included, in a liquid form. Is this correct, and does it make a difference?0 -

Spot on. I juice veggies I don't like much or eat often (kale!) to complement my diet.0 -
Did you know that juice just metabolizes straight into sugar and that most dieticians suggest staying away from juice? It's better to just eat the whole fruits and veggies that way your body burns more by breaking down the food itself. There are many ways to add the veggies into your diet without adding on the extra calories, I get great recipes from Pinterest by searching according to my diet restrictions. Such better ways to loose weight than going without the actual eating part. Plus you don't want any added sugar.0

Of course you're struggling - juice diets are terrible.
Unfortunately almost every female I know (including myself) has tried it at some point in her life... it's almost like a horrible rite of passage for 18-30 year olds. And EVERY SINGLE ONE now looks back on it as a stupid thing we did when we were young that had zero long-term benefits.
If you're looking for advice, my advice would be to stop torturing yourself and start eating real foods that fit within your calorie and macro allotments for the day. But my 19-year old self would have ignored my 35 year-old self's advice too, so I'm guessing you will do the same.0 -
The amount you are spending on juice in one day you could buy a food scale.
I did it once, and it was terrible. Ended up bingeing at Taco Bell. Not the best way to break a juice "fast".
Plug in your stats, eat at a deficit, log everything. You will do great! There's plenty of support here in that regard.0 -
I am on day 28 of a juice fast. I am down 25lbs. From 236 to 211. I have 31 more days to go. Then I transition out into healthy eating and working out. I know if I go back to my old ways I'll gain. But I'm happy, and it's working. Do what works for you!!!0
