Does working out at night make a difference?

Ive just started with mfp this week & I'm in need of opinions. I'm very cramped on time & my work schedule will probably be pretty chaotic until after the holidays. I've been doing my workouts maybe 2-3 hours before bed opposed to in the a.m. I've tried working out in the morning a few times now & I always feel like I cant put in as much effort because of how tired I am and how cramped I am for time in the morning. Will this end up holding me back in the long run ?

It's fine as long as it doesn't mess up your sleep.

No, it hasn't messed with my sleep schedule at all so far. Thank you.

I don't understand why this would hold you back? A calorie burn is a calorie burn, no matter what time of day.

This. For me certain types of exercise will keep me from sleeping well, others not so much. I can sit on my trainer and do straight cardio, and I will sleep fine. If I do intervals or lift weights to close to bed time, I will toss and turn for hours.

It could be a really silly question honestly but this is the first time I've put in the work as far as trying to live a healthy life style. rather than just not eating to lose weight. I have very little knowledge on when and how to do things properly. I've had several people say they do morning work outs because you'll feel better and you'll burn more calories throughout the day. I understand movement is better than no movement but I was wondering if I would end up with better results if I pushed threw in the mornings and made that a routine.

Nope! The best time is the time you'll actually go do it. You got this.

logically, why would it matter? a lot of people workout in the evening...a lot of people workout in the morning...a lot of people workout in the middle of the day...it doesn't matter...a workout is a workout.

I did re-explain why i asked the question, but yes. I see what your saying. Thank you.

I'm hoping it works for you. In the past my success has only been when I do morning workouts. I'm looking for people that this works for. Trust me I have no idea why working out in the AM is better for me, you'd think it wouldn't matter. Let us know how it's going.

I like it at night, after work, because it works as stress relief for me. The best time to work out is whenever you can get it in and get it done!

Just what everyone else said - anytime is fine - some people train at 10 -11 PM others at 0500 - sometimes late at night can interfere with your sleep - you can try setting your alarm early and training then. Eastcoast Jim

Working out a bit less at the end of the day is better than not working out at all at the beginning of it. ;)

I always work out at night. I already don't get enough sleep I'm not cutting that time down even more just to get up early enough to workout. I'd probably be so tired I'd drop a weight on my head or fall off the treadmill.
