Since it is my 100th day on MFP & I've lost just a little shy of 20 lbs very slowly and steadily, I thought I would look back at my food logs.
I've eaten a lot of the wonderful good foods people tend to brag a little about: lean proteins, dark leafy greens, fresh fruits, whole grains, etc. But I've also eaten plenty of the things that people sometimes try to tell themselves are 'bad.' Well here is my bad self losing 20 lbs:
55 glasses of wine. Yeah, that's a glass every other day. Shocking? Sure...
35 beers. What can I say. I like a cold one... or two... now and again.
33 servings of dark chocolate. Small servings. But yes, every third day.
21 tacos. I can't live without tacos. That's a little more than one taco a week.
16 diet sodas. But never more than 12 oz at once.
14 cookies. I really don't know how cookies happen, but they do. One a week apparently.
11 carry out pizza dinners. Did I remind you I work two jobs?
10 donuts. A donut every 10 days.
6 pieces of party cake. I have a big family.
6 ice cream cones. I have no excuse.
5 cocktails. Some involved fruits and vegetables.
3 Taco Bell runs. Drive thru is so attractive when you're already in pajamas.
3 In n Out dinners. Think of the children.
2 Starbucks. It's Chestnut Praline Latte season!
2 fish & chips dinners. My Manx heritage makes me genetically susceptible to greasy sea creatures surrounded by starches.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my imperfect past 100 days. Because it's the imperfection that makes this all work for me. If someone out there is thinking to themselves 'I've really blown it. I should quit.' DON'T!!!
This is how imperfect you can be & it can all still be fine.... so give yourself a break and keep plugging away.

That is some pretty serious logging, and thanks for the reminder that there is no bad food and no one has to eat 'clean' to succeed.0

@scolaris Awesome post
Love the line:
"....imperfection makes this all work for me." That's just perfect.
Congrats on your fantastic loss.

Good post! I like the diet soda part.0

That reads like my 60days of summer except I had way more booze and icecream! But still lost 9lbs in 2 months. Imperfection is the only reason I have been able to do this. Kudos to you!0

Yes! I'm sure my list after 218 days would look "worse" but 38 pounds down it's also working for me!
This is also reminding of things to try when on my hols Stateside next year....0 -

@SLLRunner May I ask why you are rolling around a giant red ball in public?
There wasn't enough room in the house maybe.... Lol0 -
My diary is even more abysmal (more liquor, more ice cream, maybe more pizzas, definitely more tacos), and I've lost about 34 pounds over the last 94 days. Yay for science! Understanding cico makes dieting way more manageable and far less stressful.
But, it's ridiculously easy to maintain a huge deficit as a large male. It feels like it should be harder than it is. I think I need to adjust my height actually, since I still lose more than I expect. Or just lower my deficit.
But, yeah. I like this thread. Makes weight loss look way more fun than the media portrayal.0 -
Yes, you boys definitely have the numbers in your favor! But it's all good!0

@SLLRunner are you taking all the red Target balls from the empty stores in Canada back to the USA?
If so could I have 3 for my garden, please?
Cheers, h.0 -
It's a challenge. Strength training with a goal being to roll the big concrete balls from target off its concrete hinges. Heaveeeeeee hooooooooeeeeee0
