I'm 23 Mother of 2. I'm needing help with foods that are healthy. Such as I love shakes because they taste amazing and are good for my fast life, what are some good shakes? Shake brands? I am home for dinner so I'm good with eating a low calorie meal for dinner. Also do I have to eat 6 times a day? Or is that just a myth. I go to the gym daily. I want to lose 30 lbs. Any advice will help me thanks (:

I am not a shake fan. Hubby is in charge of that department. He keeps frozen fruit and freezes bananas before they turn. That with milk and whey protein.

Eggs are quick. You can boil a half dozen at a time.

Make up a salad ready to go so it is the first thing you reach for.

A slow cooker chili made in the morning is quick to serve in the evening.

Fruit is always quick. Yogurts too.

    Sandwiches and wraps are quick.

Meal timing and frequency is irrelevant to weight loss. Also all foods aid to weight loss as long as you stay close to your calorie target every day.

I used to make shakes with unsweetened vanilla almond milk, ice, and just whatever mix of fruits/greens I had around the house. I don't do shakes much anymore, but I have 2 little ones and stay pretty busy so I am always looking for quick things to eat, too. Basically I will spend some time prepping a few things once every few days and then we have a lot of quick options on hand. A few of the things I prep ahead of time are hard boiled eggs, chicken, fruits, veggies, grains like brown rice or quinoa. I love to use the crockpot and make extras too.

I've never really done the shake thing but do a lot of "quick". Wraps, the right protein bars, anything I can fry up quick when at home, and now and then the smoothie with Greek yogurt and whatever fruits I have and I'm in the mood for. It's easy to stay quick and healthy, it's just choices.

Stay away from white processed bread and go for wheats. There is more to it than that but base it off what you will eat and enjoy. You can put anything into a wrap! Hummus, turkey, sprouts, veggies like peppers or mixed greens etc. can do tuna/veggie wrap. Pb&j, i do a hummus/fajita wrap so anyhing youd put in fajitas, put in the wrap. Allrecipes.com will lead you to infinite recipes. You can search based off ingredients you have on hand. Skinnyms.com is a great source for healthy recipes.

In answer to your questions, and to echo a few responses.
    - Meal timing (6 meals vs the traditional 3) really has no significant effect on weight loss, but may help you feel fuller, help with energy levels and be a more manageable strategy. Certainly not for everyone.
    - I wouldn't worry too much about the macros (fat, protein, carb) unless they are significantly off the recommendations. They do matter but not enough for a new dieter to stress over them. If you have to worry about one of them, make sure you get enough protein.
    - what you eat, does matter for overall health, but if your only goal is to lose weight, then in all honesty you can accomplish that by eating whatever you like to eat. A lot of people choose certain bread types (whole grains), and eat nutrient rich food finding that they are more satisfied and feel healthier, people trying to maintain or build muscle pay closer attention to protein. Again if you want to lose weight, just eat at the recommended amount and you will succeed. in that regard, shakes are a food, and if you prefer drinking calories to eating them, that is up to you. No real magical properties to them though, read labels or make your own.
    - Is exercise going to be part of your plan? Cardio and fitness? What are your goals? Having a plan and getting advice specific to your goal is a great way to approach this.

Good luck and keep asking. Lots of good people here can help you
