So to keep my mind off of eating whenever I get bored... (yes I'm guilty of that) I have determined that I need a hobby. Any good ideas? It can't be too expensive and has to be something I can do at home. Also, feel free to share your hobbies!

I was a studio art major at one time, so I LOVE doing anything art or craft related. I sew, crochet, knit, paint, etc. and I can get lost in the work so far that I forget that I'm hungry
Right now we recently moved into a new house that's a "fixer-upper" so there is plenty to keep us busy but I'm not sure that home-improvement would be considered a hobby.0 -
I enjoy gardening.. It's pretty cheap and the rewards are the best!0

I'm looking for some hobbies too, especially something that is unrelated to exercising or eating. I sometimes read or pick up some sudoku books. I'm still stumped though!0 -

i guess my hobby is sex..
But i do spend most of my time exercising, and i like exercising because i know it will make me fit.. So maybe thats my hobby..0 -
Pick a hobby you have a passion for -- or it will just be 'work' and we all have toooo much of that! :-)
My passion/hobby is taking rocks (cabochons) and handmade fused glass and making them into something fabulous to wear. http://www.wireinspirations.com
It does help keep my hands busy! My 'hobby' is a bit pricey to start out with though.
How about scrapbooking - use the stuff you already have and just buy the books to put it in. Some of my friends make cute handmade cards. Another one makes fabulous homemade biscotti and sells it online (yup can't eat too much of that now). One is taking up painting (cheap if you go to a hobby store like Michaels).

Cleaning the car - properly!
Top to toe wash, polish ,wax, tyres, wheels, vacc, engine bay etc etc!
It kills time and i sweat like a pig, amazing work out! I can be out there for up to 5 hours at times!!0 -

I grow my own veg, get books from the library , haven't knitted for a long while but my fingers are begining to itch! Oh and I classify galaxies on Galaxy Zoo.

I LOOOVEEE to sing. I plug in head phones, youtube my favorite songs and belt it out. I also like to read, (public libraries are your friend) and have made the gym my hobby. I like to go for walks along the track near my house (when I have a friend to accompany me). I like the gardening idea someone threw out. I don't have any place to plant things at the moment, or I would love to be able to plant veggies and pretty flowers.
Just do what you like! Try out as many different things as you can and stick with the hobby you enjoy most.0 -

Picking up an instrument requires time, dedication, and practice. It can be expensive to start out for some instruments, but who knows? You could become the world's greatest recorder player with something like $4 down.

Knitting is super easy! There are You tube videos. thats how I learned. The tough part? I just can't get myself to knit during the summer time. I'm knitting a scarf and it's 100+ degrees out. :happy:0

Origami. You can use left over wrapping paper if you want. You can buy a book to learn, but I chose the cheap way: youtube.0

I used to make a lot of jewellery that I'd sell via a shop my Mum owned. I stopped making them, and my Mum's shop closed anyway (she didn't have time to run it and look after my elderly grandparents). I keep saying I'll pick it up again, but then I log onto fb and the hours vanish...0

My passion is jewlery making. Started simply stringing beads then progressed to bead weaving. You can make beautiful items for yourself or share them with friends for special occasions (birthday, goals reached, etc). The beginning tools are not very expensive - check you your are for bead shops - they will give free classes - but you need to get supplies for the classes at their shop. Love Love Love it. I found that I needed a hobby to...things were just getting boring! What about photography and then editing the pictures? Sounded boring to me at first, but then I got my fantastic camera for Christmas, and have been a huge photography nerd ever since lol!0

I knit, too! I am so surprised that there are so many knitters here. How many calories do you think we burn doing that? LOL
It is not hard to learn the basics, and yet it can keep you challenged by learning new stitches. The good thing with this hobby is that you can wear what you make afterwards! It's not very expensive to start, but can get pricey if you develop a yarn habit. (and I do -- it's inherited -- just ask my aunt!)
As far as knitting in the summer -- I agree that sometimes it's hard to stay motivated when it's 100 degrees outside. I tend to change my projects to reflect the seasons -- lighter fabrics. Right now I'm working on baby booties and some cotton dishcloths.0 -

I quilt, or at least make an attempt at it. My husband says he doesn't know what a finished quilt looks like. :laugh: It keeps me busy and sometimes I forget to eat! It can be expensive if you do big quilts, but smaller projects aren't quite as pricey, and they're easier to complete, too. :happy:0

My boyfriend got me into Geocaching recently. If you have a computer and a smartphone that is pretty much what is needed to start. Other supplies are generally things people already have like a car, a flashlight, some OFF, a bottle of water, a pen. Go to Geocaching.com to sign up and you can get a free app on your phone to help find them. If you like the hobby can pay $10.00 and get a better app. I have the free one. What's really great about it is that it gets you outside walking around, getting your exercise without even realizing it. And it is SO rewarding to find a cache!!! It's pretty easy as the caches come with difficulty and terrain ratings. Don't go for the high ratings until you know what you are doing!0

I have been barren in the ways of creativity lately, but when my creativity is flowing I really enjoy drawing and singing. However, if you aren't the type to just sit down and draw/doodle/paint/etc., but like journaling and adding to something overtime, I really suggest "Wreck This Journal" by Keri Smith. The journal is full of prompts and all sorts of fun ways to essentially creatively "wreck" the journal -- from having it go through the postal system to see how "wrecked" it gets, to collecting the stickers off of the fruit you buy, to weird mazes, to blank pages to create your own little designated space(s) and so on. I plan to get a new one soon and incorporate different ways to wreck it via exercise, haha! Like tying a string around it and dragging it after me during a walk.
