Fried Foods

Okay, so I know fried foods are ridiculously bad for you, but I'm having kind of a hard time completely cutting them out. My question is, for those of you who cut out the fried foods did you see a huge difference in your weight loss/health?

yes, yes and YES!!! I know its hard, mostly because your body is addicted to it, but it will get easier!! Just take baby steps and each time you are able to ignore the craving, it will build your confidence to ignore the next one. I grew up on southern fried chicken and had the *kitten* to prove it!! haha, but its all about mind set. You can do it!!! Just change the way you think about it. :-) good luck0

Have you heard of Hungry Girl? She has some amazing alternatives to fried food. She recommends using fiber cereal to have the crunch. You should check her out. Hungry-girl.com0

I haven't completely cut out any foods yet..I only eat them in moderation and smaller servings. I have found that if I don't allow myself to have things I like, that is when I am unsuccessful. I just watch my calories and try to meet all the nutrition goals everyday. When what I am currently doing reaches the max weight loss I will then consider another route. Cravings do eventually go away!! Good Luck!0

I'm not sure about America, but here we have a spray oil type thing. It is one calorie per squirt, and although is definately NOT the same taste, it helps.
Yup, I think distraction is the way, get on here or, have a walk, or drink, or something similar? Good luck0 -
Yes, cholesterol levels went DOWN! I had previously thought my high cholesterol was hereditary, not so, FRIED FOODS were the culprit all along.
Don't get me wrong, I love it and still eat it occasionally, a few times a year. NOM0 -

Hungry-girl I haven't tried, but cooking light has great "modified" recipes.
I make a baked fish rolled in seasonings and (this sounds weird but stick with me) crushed up rice crispies. DELICIOUS!
Stay strong. Fried food is really, really bad for you. You're doing the right thing.0 -
I have NO problem when I eat in my house. I use pam cooking spray -- no oil or butter normally. It's when I eat out! Last night I was dragged to Ruby Tuesdays and didn't realize how expensive everything is! The cheapest thing was chicken fingers or quesadillas, so I figured since they were both crappy choices to just go with the chicken fingers but knew it was so bad for me0

I never, ever, ever ever, eat fried foods. I don't have any butter, margarine, or butter substitute in my house. luckily I just never liked the taste of butter. (just the smell of it melting in a pans literally makes me throw up) And anything soaking in oil or glistening with it just grosses me out.0
