So I was wondering if you go over on calories, I know you can work out and burn them off. But if you go over on carbs, fat & protein; what do you do to work that off? Work out longer or what do you do? I try not to go over & I just started & I still ended up going over something

Don't worry about it if you go over a bit once in a while just keep the calories close most days and you will see progress. One thing to keep in mind is that MFP's protein figure is very low. You should be getting .5 to 1 gram of protein for each pond of body weight.0

Well, when you "earn back" exercise calories it allocates some to each category, so wouldn't working out more still do the trick? I'm not gonna lie, I've been on here 3 months and I am most concerned with simply staying under my calorie allowance. I use the other numbers as a guide to see if I'm trending in a specific direction. I also changed my allocation so I get more portein allowance and less carbs b/c I was always way over on protein, but I need it to fuel my workouts.
Good luck to you and feel free to friend me if you'd like support.0 -
I've heard that MFP underestimates how much protein you should actually have.
For me, as time has gone on I've learned which foods put me over in which categories and adjust throughout the day. I went over a lot at first and sometimes I still do
Not sure how to actually work it off once you do go over.0 -
I've always wondered that too.
Mostly with carbs.
I used to have a bad problem with them.
Now I hate them.0 -
Thanks everyone for taking the time out to answer my question.0

Simply put, it's excessive calories that cause weight gain.
As long as you are eating healthy foods and staying under your calorie allowance I wouldn't worry about going over on protein/ carb/ fats. Because in the end, the weight gain comes from excessive calories. How you add up those calories is less important (as long as you are eating healthy foods).
Of course it can be much more involved than this. So if you have more questions you may want to talk to a nutritionist to help dial in a precise meal plan for you.0 -
Thank you for your imput :happy:0
