I love all the tropical fruits (except bananas...if they even count). But they always seem pricier and harder to eat! LoL, like a pineapple, man, think of all the work it takes to cut that baby up. And, the first time I had a whole mango, I thought you'd be able to visually see the pit, like an avocado, haha, I destroyed that thing while trying to cut it.

    SATURDAY – JUNE 11TH – DAY 28! – JUMP ON IT!

    (We are in week 4)

CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK – This week we are going to focus on healthy eating!

    DAILY CHALLENGE/TIP
We’re closing in on our 4th week weigh-in and I want us to focus on something that will help keep us regular…that’s right, fiber! Keeping your metabolism and digestive track going well help keep the lbs going! Today’s challenge is to ‘ensure’ you eat enough of your daily allotted fiber!

Fiber is important because it has an influence on the digestion process from start to finish:
•Because it demands that food be more thoroughly chewed, fiber slows down the eating process and helps contribute to a feeling of being full, which in turn can help prevent obesity from overeating.
•Fiber makes food more satisfying, probably because the contents of the stomach are bulkier and stay there longer.
•Fiber slows digestion and absorption so that glucose (sugar) in food enters the bloodstream more slowly, which keeps blood sugar on a more even level.
•Fiber is broken down in the colon (the main part of the large intestine) by bacteria (a process called fermentation), and the simple organic acids produced by this breakdown helps to nourish the lining of the colon.
    • These acids also provide fuel for the rest of the body, especially the liver, and may have an important role in metabolism.

I have this one in the bag. I usually go way over with all the fruit and salads that I eat.
Does anyone know how many calories you can burn crocheting? I seems that I have three blankets and sweaters to make for my daughters who are expecting. One for September and two (twins) for January.

Hi everyone. A pretty good day calorie & exercise. But, fiber intake not so good. Did eat a bit of fruit but not enough to say I was uping my fiber. I am going to repeat today's challenge of getting lots of fiber tomorrow. Have a great night.

    (We are in week 4)

CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK – This week we are going to focus on healthy eating!

    DAILY CHALLENGE/TIP
TOMORROW is the week 4 weighin!!! (I’m pretty sure I my scale’s not gonna budge…I can never seem to ever get past the weight I’m at but I REALLLLY REALLLY WANNNT TO!) Today’s challenge is two part: 1. to stay below your sodium allowance and 2. to once again FILL YOUR CUP! Drink at least 64oz of water today!
(DID YOU KNOW: salt and sodium are not the same thing. Sodium, which is found naturally in most foods, accounts for approximately 40% of table salt. Therefore when salt is added to food, the sodium content increases by approximately 40% of the amount of salt added.) I dont add salt to much of anything...I use garlic powder and a smidge of garlic salt and lots of pepper on almost everything - the added flavors help me to not crave salt so much on things!

Tomorrow I start my 1 month fitness boot camp. I'm hoping to get a good butt-kicking for the next month. My main struggle right now is my diet when I am off work on the weekends.

One thing I was surprised at what the amount of sodium in some breads, especially at restaurants. So, I don't eat bread anymore. If I'm at a sub shop, I will ask for my sandwich to be wrapped in lettuce instead of the bread (if that's an option). The lettuce wraps are delicious and much healthier too!

Tomorrow I should be fine, I work in the gym tomorrow. I usually get my water in on the days I work. I'm hoping to start turbo fire soon but I have to figure out how to get the dvds to work. I think there is an error in my dvd player or the dvds. I got the dvds on sale.

Well I stayed well under my sodium today =) And I lost track of my water after 12 glasses =))))) Come on weigh in I am ready!
When It comes to sodium I am a freak! I try to use no sodium cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and pepper for the most part in my cooking =)

From the foods I eat every-day I'm not too bad for sodium - I stick to lots of fresh fruit and veggies, steer clear of microwave meals if I can because they're PACKED with the stuff!

I AM, however, a sucker for adding salt to things when I'm cooking. I've taken to cayenne pepper lately, it seems to fulfill the same craving, somehow. Also, chopped herbs like corriander or basil often have the same effect :)

There are quite a few foods that I consider to be my favorites! And yes, most of them are full of sodium! My remedy for that is to prepare my favorite foods at home, instead of dining out all the time. I still eat out, but not as much as I use to. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure two years ago at the age of 29....which was quite scary. HBP runs in my family. However, I was the youngest in the family to be diagnosed. Since then, I've made the conscious decision to season my foods with Mrs. Dash. I hated it at first, because I had been so accustomed to highly seasoned foods. But now, I love it! Mrs. Dash comes in a variety of flavors that taste pretty good. I also use Land o Lakes unsalted butter in my foods too!

I really enjoy eating Smart Ones! They are actually lifesavers for a person (like me) with a hectic work and school schedule. Although most of them are fairly low in calories, they tend to be sky high in sodium. So I have to be careful about the dinners I purchase.

I was advised by the school nurse on my campus to not exceed 2000 mg of sodium per day.

Just been catching up on everything from over the weekend...as far as my sodium I like to try and use other types of spices when I prepare foods at home Mrs. Dash, garlic powder, a small amount of garlic salt...and other seasonings which spice up the foods I eat...the only thing I really HAVE to add salt to in order to eat it are green beans I just cant do it otherwise I love them but I needs my salt on them!

Im looking forward to completing the challenges this week since our first month goal is right around the corner...I can't believe how fast the time is flying by!!!

I personally never add salt (or sugar for that matter) to anything. I buy low sodium and when I cook I stick to the basics. You would be surprized at how good food really tastes without the sodium added. Most of my spices are peppers and fresh garlic.
The challenge for this week will be a challenge. I can do the water, but will have to put my all into keeping track and eating under my calorie goal. Exercise will be done with ease if only I can get outside and work in my flowerbeds on the days that I don't walk with my walking buddy. Cheers and lots of luck to all.......
