Christmas

Made my puddings last weekend- very sentimental as its my Granny's recipe and the smell reminds me of childhood. Anyway I don't like Christmas cake, not a huge chocolate fan so am dreaming of slicing into the pudding- until I logged the recipe today- 5057 calories in the pudding... GUTTED!

Is that for the whole thing or per serving? Per serving I'd say you entered the recipe wrong, because there's just no way.

It's the whole thing- about 500 calories per serving before any cream!!!

Enjoy it for one day and then get back on track. I personally don't even log on days like Christmas and easter . one day won't ruin all your hardwork. Just enjoy your holiday while being mindful of your choices. For example- instead of eating 5,000 calories in pudding alone , eat one portion and also enjoy a variety of other foods.

So either work it into your calories or have a smaller serving. That's where portion control comes in.

Well firstly I would LOVE a piece of that pudding :yum: And secondly - have a day off and enjoy your Christmas, then get back to it on Boxing day. One day won't do any harm as long as you have the mindset to not let that one day expand to a week and then 2 etc

When I saw that the pecan pie I had to have for thanksgiving was 540 a slice, I cut that slice in half and enjoyed it. My husband finished off the rest of the pie... I enjoyed it but couldn't justify all those calories. Especially since for me, sugar will turn me into an endless pit for food. So there is that. I just can't handle sweets too responsibly. Every now and again I'll eat a cookie or doughnut but that's about as much as my will power will let me get away with... but you have some options. You could exercise extra for a week or so, you could eat smaller portions, you could just take the hit for the full amount... interchange them...whatever will make you happy both before and after you eat it.

After avoiding biscuits, sweets and general 'goodies' for the past 6 months I suppose I've just forgotten how calorific sweet things are! I'm just nervous that over Christmas I lose the run of myself with all the get togethers, family gatherings, work dos- it goes on and on. Think I'll serve the pudding when I've lots of people in the house- limit how much I can have myself!
