What do you do with your egg yolks?

Asking just out of curiosity really. I sometimes read in people's diaries that they use egg whites. If this is you, what do you do with the egg yolk? Do you throw it away?

Hi, I sometimes buy just egg whites in a carton to save on waste. When using eggs I usually make scrambled eggs with four egg whites and two whole eggs. I always feel terribly guilty about throwing the yolks away though.

I feel like opening a home for all the poor abandoned egg yolks :(

One of the worlds most balanced whole foods cast aside for just a handful of calories.....sob....sob

I eat them. The yolks are the best part.

I eat them. There's a lot of nutrition in egg yolks (and it's cheaper just to buy eggs instead of the egg whites in a carton).

After you asked I had to go look. Egg yolk powders are used in manufacturing of ice cream, mayonnaise, cosmetics, and baking. I'm satisfied just as long as they don't end up in the landfill. - Sanovo Egg Group

At home I'd make a nice Hollandaise sauce.

It's good to know the food companies aren't wasting the egg yolks!

Personally, I eat the yolk too. I was just curious what those who don't eat the yolk, do with it. That hollandaise sauce looks good!

Down the sink with mine, I have 1 yolk per 7 whites to keep my cals a bit lower

I eat the yolks. If I want just whites I buy the little cartons of egg whites. I suspect this is what most people who eat just whites regularly do.

Correct. This is exactly what I do when I'm not eating a whole egg for dinner.

If I wanted whites to stretch my eggs, I'd buy them in the carton.

I eat the whole egg when I eat eggs, though. I love the yolks. My favorite is poached eggs over Brussels sprouts hash.

Make Belgian chocolate Cointreau mousse (BBC recipe). That is when I have just made a pavlova. Otherwise I eat whole eggs.

    Cheers, h.

When doing scrambled eggs, we use the carton egg whites. I have come to appreciate the yolk, though. I used to hate the texture but after seeing that that's where all the nutrients are, I channeled my inner grown up and they're amazing!

I like them fried. Then busted open over a piece of toast with bacon on top.

    Coconut milk eggnog:

    1 egg yolk
1/3 cup canned coconut milk (full fat kind)
2/3 cup carton coconut milk (the drinking kind)
    2 tbsp honey
Cinnamon and nutmeg - to taste

Warm everything together in a saucepan on the stove. Warm just until it's pleasantly warm for you to drink, don't cook it. Stir it every once in a whole so it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot. After it's warm, take an immersion blender and blend until it's nice and frothy.

Delicious! Plus, it's perfect for people that can't have dairy, AND it has the beneficial fiber from the coconut.

Ahhh right, cartons of egg whites ... I guess I'm a bit clueless on stuff like that as I live in the South of France, where they still think you're insane if you say you're a vegetarian. No such thing as egg whites in my local supermarket - I'm still having trouble hunting down sweet potatoes *grins*

Ditto! Mix it in with my senior beagle's dog food. She loves it.

If I separate them, the question is what I do with the whites. I typically only split them to make ice cream and save the whites for scrambled eggs the next morning.

    This.
If I have extra egg whites, those go down the drain, but NEVER the yolks.
    They are yummy and nutritious.

I have 2 cats and a big dog so they love to get the yolks I am not eating or I make an omlette the next day for my hubby who loves the yolks. When I am making an omlette for myself I usually have one yolk and the rest whites or if I am eating boiled eggs I have one white and one whole.
