Ok, I'm in a philosophy class and my professor is asking us to pick a current event and explain how it's consider philosophical and I have no clue how an article could be philosophical!!!! It's an online class and it's too late to email my teacher and ask this question considering it's due tonight. Anyone care to explain?!

The current political debates could be philosophical. Politicians are all ID and EGO and morals. Keep in mind that Ethics is part of philosophy, so you could break the questions down into morals and ethics/beliefs.

And Senator Weinner would be an excellent subject for I'd and ego, as brndygrl98 points out.

From what I remember, Philosophy is basically a point of view, a way in which to view the world, ourselves, God, etc. I dont remember all the different philosophers theories, but current events definately fall easily into certain points of view, or can be view in certain ways. If that helps. If I were you, I would pick a philosophers view, pick an event, and explain how it could be viewed that way, or what the implications would be.

The Id is the part of the psyche that is concerned with our basic needs. It knows no good or evil. Think small child. The Ego is concerned with the self as in how to meet the needs of the Id. Self esteem is controlled by the Ego. The Super Ego aims for perfection. It contradicts the Id and seeks only self pleasure.

    Don't worry...you can do this!

    google phylisophical current events!
  • What about PFC Manning and the wikileaks? His passing of information to Julian Assange is seen by some as brave whistleblowing and as others as high treason and espionage. I think you could write about absolute morality, right and wrong, and black and white morals versus moral relativity. As in, is it EVER okay to give away secrets you swore to protect?

I picked the Weiner scandal. It's all over the news and I need two sources so that makes it easy. I think I understand what I need to do. Guess I'll figure it out when it gets graded! Thanks everyone!

P.S: Mom, saying google it helps me in no way! I tried that! LOL
