                    If I put a few cloves of garlic (roasted or raw) in my rice while it cooked, will the rice take  on the flavor of the garlic?

            I would imagine. At the very least it would perfume it to smell ultra-garlicky.0

            Yes! As the water heats up the flavor of the garlic will leach out and be infused with the rice. It may take some experimenting to get the proper strength of garlic, but it will flavor it. My host-mom in Japan likes to put mushrooms, dried seaweed, or beans in the rice cooker when she starts it. (They have this one type of bean that turns the rice purple ^^) I would just be careful with raw garlic and make sure it is on top so it doesn't turn bitter.0
