sweet tooth

I am in need of a few suggestions in what I can eat to satisfy my sweet tooth.
I usually eat a fair amount of fruit but this just doesn't do it! I only started eating fruit and veg (still don't eat them all and have plenty to try) about 18 months ago and I try to eat at least 4 out of my five a day. Because I'm still fairly wary about fruit I find the best thing is to encourage me to eat it is to "reward" myself. I'm after something that is low fat and low in calories but will satisfy my craving.
I'm a bit fed up with chocolate, weight watchers bars so would like something new. Yoghurts just don't seem to cut it and I think i may suffer if i eat biscuits.....
I'm trying to lose half a stone or more if I can make it. I'm currently 9"12 having lost 2lbs so far.
Suggestions very welcome! x

I, too, have a sweet tooth. I crave sweets all day long & I agree that there just aren't that many good options that I have found yet. I'm going to try the jello mousse things. Great idea! I also can suggest the Skinny Cow ice cream cones or truffle bars. Yum!0

I'm a big fan of sherbets, sorbets, sorbetos and italian ice. The good ones have 100 cals or less per 1/2 cup. AND ... I have a half cup ice cream scoop that I got from a restaurant supply. Now, I make sure I've got 100 cals left at the end of my day, and something yummy in my freezer.0

I like the Quaker Mini Delights. They're small rice cakes drizzled with different flavors. They're only 90 calories and satisfy my sweet tooth. Also, try the Vitalicious Vita Tops. I eat them topped with 2 T. fat free Cool Whip for a total of 115 calories. Very yummy!0

That Jell-o pudding is amazing. Also, a friend of mine recently brought over some brownies. You make them with the Ghiradelli brownie mix. Instead of eggs and oil, you use a can of black beans (pureed). I was very hesitant to try them, but they are AMAZING. They were very rich and chocolaty. They're also high in fiber and only about 100 calories per brownie.0

I have a really sweet tooth too and I like the Weight Watchers desserts. My favourite is the Rich Chocolate Dessert which is around 70 cals. It's only a small pot but it's so sweet it satisfys my craving for a huge bar of Galaxy! I like the rice pudding too but that's around 115 cals.
I also make up sugar free jelly (16 cals) and add some fruit (15 cals) (Tesco frozen mixed berries are nice) and then serve this with a Tesco value choc ice (95 cals) so you get jelly and ice cream for under 150 cals
And I always treat myself to a Curly Wurly (115 cals) when I have spare exercise calories to use up :laugh:0 -

I have 2 pkgs of this mix in my pantry that I've been pretending aren't there because I'm afraid of them - very afraid. I may try this, but are you SURE it's just a can of pureed black beans?0 -
oooooooooo jelly sounds like a good idea - didn't even think of that. I'm sure I've got some at home.
Thanks guys!0 -

I have sweet tooth as well. I think you best strategy is to reset your sweetness expectations. What does that mean? You have to cut out diet foods, artificial sweeteners, and anything with any kind of added sugar or sweetener. It does not matter whether any of these processed foods have calories from sugar or not. The problem is that most artificial sweeteners are actually sweeter than sugar. No fruit, vegetable etc. can compete with that and will always not satisfy as long as you are training your palate to crave crazy unnatural levels of sweetness.
If you can stick to a clean diet of vegetables, fruit, lean meats, etc. your palate will eventual adjust and those natural sources will taste much sweeter.
Processed sugar and artificial sweeteners will just sabotage any attempt to eat cleaner and healthier.0 -
I think that the sweet tooth thing is more like a treat I give myself for eating the fruit.... I hate full fat coke etc so its not a sugar craving but more for something thats sweet that isn't fruit!!!0

I love sweets! I eat a Quaker DIPP chocolate chip bar. to me it like eating a candy bar. They are around 140 calories but I don't care.0

I love the Planter's almonds with cocoa and/or cinnamon. So satisfying and good for you in moderation. A full serving is 160 calories for 24 pieces. I count out 12 and voila 80 calories!0

Try Dove Ice Cream Miniatures @ 60 calories each.0

There is no way I could cut sweets completely form my diet so here are some suggestions that are healthier. Slim-A-Bear Klondike Bars, No Sugar Added Blue Bunny Bunny Tracks Ice Cream both are lower in sugar contant and kinda low carbs count. If you need something crunchy Pretzel M&M's are goos but have alot of sugar so only if you really need something sweet and crunchy not to cheat. Also, there are sugar free Resse's that are great. I haven't found any good sugar fee cookies yet.
I hope this helps you not cheat, these are really great alternatives and I simply couldn't diet without them!0 -
Here are my desserts I have when I'm craving!
McDonalds- Ice cream cone(150 cals)
Dairy queen- Fudge bad (50 cals)
Wendy's- Junior frosty (100 cals)0
