Recipes with walnut?

Hello :smile:
Do u know a good recipe with walnut? I got about 5 kg and I dont know what can I do with it... ok it is healthy but soo many for eat simple... Can somebody help me? :wink:

    Walnuts are fabulous in salads. I like them with beet and goat cheese and pear and blue cheese. They can be put into any kind of fruit bread or cookies. Make a walnut pesto. Add them to cereal or oatmeal. Or just eat them plain. Yum!

    You have so much I'd take 1 or 2 KG, blend it to a "flour", and freeze it. I'd use it with flour to coat chicken breasts or eggplant slices.

    They are also good to chop up and put into a stuffed pasta shell recipe.

    Oh yummm! So fantastic ideas! Tomorrow my lunch will be a salad...with walnut :D but the flour idea is fantastic! I never try that...yet :D and I think I have to freez the other because my mum and my husband' mum give us too :D we will have walnut-poisoning :D Thank you so much <3

    Mix in small pieces with honey or sugar and regular plain or greek yogurt its more filling than just eating it by itself
    Or you can add crushed walnuts to chicken stew or tuna salad for texture

    walnut stuffed dates? hm its sounds very good but it is a little detailed i think... no? i'll try that too... and the plain joghurt with honey and walnut...soo easy and soo obvious but i never try that...yet :smile:

    You can puree them into soup (with pureed veggies, say), puree & use as a sauce for other foods, chop them & use them on top of a casserole or something like roast carrots or other veggies (add them in the last 15 minutes of roasting). If you eat toast, chop them & put them on top.

    Over the weekend, I toasted some chopped walnuts (12 minutes at 350F in the oven), and used them as a garnish on a pureed cauliflower/white bean/mushroom soup.

    I also used some to stuff baked apples: I combined walnuts, raisins, orange zest, orange all-fruit spread, and cinnamon, put the mix into a cavity where the apple core had been scooped out (leaving solid apple at the bottom to hold the filling). Then I made a little channel with a table knife in the filling so I could pour in a little orange juice (from half the zested orange) and some Cointreau (orange liqueur, optional - alcohol pretty much vaporizes in the oven, leaving flavor). Bake with apples standing in a baking dish, surrounded by an inch or so of water at 375F until done (how long depends on the apple variety, but probably 20-45 minutes).

    Every day, I put them on my oatmeal.

    Obviously, if you're on MFP to lose weight, you need to use reasonable portions, because they're higher calorie - but also good for you.

    Yeah, one would handle one nut at a time.
    An alternative is to (1) put the walnuts, cream cheese, and dates in a blender and then (2) use your hands to shape them into balls. . . . sort of like protein balls.

    Can you roast them and make walnut butter?

    I just made the Thug Kitchen peanut butter banana walnut muffins.

    Heat over to 375.

    Combine 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 3 bananas, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup milk (dairy or nondairy)
    In a separate bowl combine 2cups flour, 1 tbs (yes tablespoon) of baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt

    Stir your dry ingredients into the wet until just moist. To paraphrase the cookbook don't waste all that f*ing peanut butter on tough *kitten* muffins) Fold in 1/2 cup walnuts.

    Bake 18-20 minutes in a greased muffin tin. Makes 12 big muffins.

    I'm making a warm kale salad with re-constituted cranberries, shallots and walnuts this week

    1 large bunch of organic kale (Tuscan, Lacinato or Dinosaur)
    1 large shallot
    2 teaspoons salt
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    2 large cloves of garlic, minced
    a handful of dried cranberries (I use apple juice sweetened)
    a small handful of chopped walnuts
    1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar (I use fruit flavored varieties like dark cherry Balsamic)
    Salt and pepper, to season


    Directions
    Bring a large pot (5 quart/liter) of water to a boil while you are trimming the kale leaves and slicing the shallot. Trim the ribs out of the center of the kale leaves, then cut the leaves crosswise into ribbons. Slice the peeled shallot crosswise into thin rings.
    When water boils, add 2 teaspoons salt, then drop the kale leaves into the water and cook for 2 minutes (called blanching). Drain well through a sieve and place kale on a clean kitchen towel. Alternatively you can steam your kale for 2-3 minutes, then proceed with the recipe.
    In a medium saute or fry pan (I use a 3 or 4 quart All Clad), heat the olive oil over medium low heat until warm. Add the shallot rings, then the garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring until softened. Be careful not to let them burn. Add the cranberries, walnuts. and vinegar. Stir and cook for a minute, then add the cooked kale. Toss the kale ribbons to coat and warm, season up with salt and pepper, then serve.

    Here is a simple snack I do with walnuts from time to time.

    I call them Hamdingers because I love puns but you can use turkey or beef too.

    I just take 4 pieces of lean cold cut meat. Take a piece of low fat string cheese and pull it into 4 thick strings. Place string on meat and then take 3-5 walnuts and line it up along the cheese and roll it. Chomp it down.

    It is a surprisingly good flavor combination for a quick and pretty healthful snack.

    Romesco sauce. The nut used varies from recipe to recipe, but walnuts would work well.

    Make turkish poached chicken with walnut sauce
    First poach the chicken in a stockpot w onion celery carrot bay leaf peppercorn and salt 20 mins simmering until chicken is cooked and cool chicken in broth
    Remove the chicken and shred save the stock
    Saute 1 chopped onion and some garlic in oil until soft but not brown add paprika pepper lemon zest and lemon juice and take it off the heat mix in 1-2 slices of bread and 2-3 cups walnuts And cool when cool put into a blender or food processor and mix it to a slightly textured paste adding the chicken stock as you go
    Shred the chicken and add to the walnut sauce sprinkle pomegranate seed over it
    Heat a little oil in a pan and add some paprika making it red pour the oil over the chicken
    Its verry pretty and delicious w pita bread or rice

    Forgot to add you must use good white bread with the crust removed like a ciabatta or french baguette not plasticky wonder bread
