Don't your textbooks explain this? Or are you just checking to see how many MFPers can math?

Anyone want to proofread my next paper? I tend to use way too many commas. I need someone who is a comma whisperer.

The book says the answer is 900 I don't get it

Find the area of the playing field (including the area under the play area (40 x 35) minus the area that is overlapped by the play area (20 x 25):

    (40 x 35) - (20 x 25) = 1400 - 500 = 900

What level of math is this?
