Today I hit my goal weight!!!!
I have been logging and losing for 337 days
so almost exactly 11 months
I haven't missed a single day of tracking in that time
I have lost 168lbs
Which is 47% of my starting bodyweight, or I weighed 89% more than I do now.
I started at 357lbs
I weighed in today at 189.4lbs
I now live within OneDerland and am no longer considered medically obese.
My BMI was 51.2
My BMI is 27.2
I started this journey because of a diagnosis of diabetes type II.
My blood glucose level at diagnosis was 355 fasting
(70-100 is considered normal/healthy)
My A1C was 11
(4-5.4 is considered normal/healthy)
My Fasting blood glucose reading this week was 89
My A1C at last doctor's appointment was 4.8
I have been off my Metformin medication for diabetes for 5 months
I have been logging and losing for 337 days
so almost exactly 11 months

So my 'workouts' have tapered off in the last two months as I have been approaching goal and looking forward to transitioning to maintenance. But for about 9 months I swam 6 or 7 days a week. I started with 30 minutes/day. I added 5 minutes every two weeks until I got to an hour. Then I started setting performance goals to make sure i was continuing to 'work harder' within my hour. When I started out I was lucky to make 500m in 30 minutes. At the end I was swimming about 2250m in an hour. (Which is still quite slow by 'swimmer' standards).
BUT I will tell you there are many good reasons to exercise, weight loss isn't one of even the top 5. For my weight loss journey i'd say its 90% cutting calorie intake, 10% exercise.0 -
Wonderful way to end the year and start a new one!0
