Why would you start a diet you know nothing about?

Try eating less and possibly moving more. It works and doesn't have a lame name. Win-win.

My scale is not moving any more on 1200 cal diet with exercise. Thought of trying a different diet.

How long has your scale not moved? How are you tracking your food, do you weigh everything?

My first reaction was "feeding on human blood", but it might be a Spike-with-a-chip-in-his-head diet, so I'm just not sure.

You have no idea what it is but what to start doing it. Ummm.. okay. How about instead of looking for some ridiculous fad you figure out why your current way isn't working. Are you logging EVERYTHING you eat? Using a food scale? Accurately logging your exercise? Eating the proper amount of calories? Usually if you get your diary accurate you'll find yourself losing weight again.

Through many hardships and struggles with my own weight and stress, God has provided me with the guidance and wisdom to develop the greatest lifestyle eating plan I have ever followed. This plan is something I need to share with everyone who is looking to lose weight. I really want to reach those who have struggled with failed diets in the past and maybe feel desperate about their situation. I want to tell you that there is hope. This is a plan for people who love to eat and want to lose weight. Living the Spike Life, I have been able to eat my favorite foods.

Bwahahahahahah ahahah ahahaha. Living the Spike Life, Ha ahahahahahaha!!!

So basically on this diet you eat at 1200 for 6 days then eat more on the 7th? It's a calorie spike, also known as a refeed. It helps with hormone levels. There's nothing wrong with doing it, but if you aren't being accurate logging the whole week you'll end up eating at or above your maintenance. If you decide to do it be accurate and try to keep the spike day to your maintenance number (aka your TDEE).

According to your profile, you have about 10lbs to go. The closer you are to your goal weight, the slower the weight loss. Set MFP for .5/wk, add moderate cardio exercise and strength training.

Wasn't that guy on MFP a few years ago? I remember Spike 84 tickers. I'd rather just eat what I want every day instead of waiting for one specific day, which is what I used to do, but if you can do it without feeling deprived the other 6 days, more power to ya. Also, what usmcmp said.

First, why would you plan to start a diet plan that you know nothing about? Second, if you are aware of google you could find out the answer to your question.

I'll make it easy for you - the Spike plan is nothing more than a cheat day once a week (that's the "spike").

Now, review your weight loss goal against your BMI - if you are close, the weight is going to come off very slowly. If you are really at goal and those extra few pounds are vanity - go into maintenance.

Spike Diet = "cheat day" once a week but if you don't know what it is, or want to simply use good ol' google search to find out, why would you want to start the diet?

Got the book for this for a few pounds so worth having a look at least. Read through it, did the calculations...if I've got this correct it's saying I should only eat 1600 calories on a high day, 1100 on a low day and 3200 on a spike day. I'm actually trying to get in contact with the author as he has answered questions elsewhere on the internet about it. But initial impressions of this are it isn't worth the money (not even a few £), you may as well just calculate yourself some higher calorie days, some lower and a refeed day. That's it if I've got this correct.

With all the talk of religious deities and spikes, the only thing that comes to mind is crucifixion? Makes sense to me since if your hands are otherwise tied up, it *is* kinda hard to overeat.

Or maybe I shouldn't have binged on the Seasons 1-5 GoT marathon aired on satellite the past couple of days.

Seriously at 5'2 1200 freaking cals is all MFP will allow me to eat without exercise.

However, OP why do you want to start a new eating plan without researching it? Personally I eat under my allowance daily, so I can blow it on Saturday night. I eat and drink with my partner, we both have a fab night and over 7 days I am within my overall limit and loosing. Over 30lbs down or 14.3kg.

The thread is a year and half old. Not trolling, likely just ineffective (unless OP wants to come back to update us).

I'm genuinely not sure though, it wasn't being rude, it's just similar to another thread that's on here.

    Open your diary.

Probably not going to happen. The thread was originally posted in 2014 and there is no last log in date from OP.
