As long as they aren't used spikes becuase those railroad ties are soaked in creosote. Last I heard, it was a legit toxin.
ETA: Fell for the zombie. The creosote probably did it.
EATA: Creosote made the thread zombie, not made me fall for it.0 -

Finally! A toxin is named.

funny joining MFP for the first time in about 2 years, stumble upon a first thread to read and see everyone are just rude jerks. not 1 supportive comment in here, absolutely fascinating..
Funny how according to you people giving constructive, honest and respectful feedback are "rude jerks" but calling strangers "rude jerks" is somehow fine... Agressive much?!0 -
Buddies with the author...great guy! Let me know how I can help. I have helped many people use this form of dieting with much success.
The spike diet author? I'd like to know if my calculations of 1600 and 1100 calories are correct for a 5 foot 5, 146 lbs, 32 year old male who lifts four times a week please? I've redone the formula over and over and reached the same result. I feel I've made a horrendous error somewhere. Thanks.0 -

Honestly, I don't know anything about the spike diet, but that sounds horrendous based on your stats. What are you trying to accomplish? Lose/gain? With consuming that low you are going to lose, including burning through muscle. I can't see it leading to a physique you will be happy with. If you are lifting 4x/week, are you trying to maintain existing muscle or to build it? Building takes a surplus in calories. If you are trying to shed some fat and build muscle, consider either some cut and bulk cycles or a recomp. This is coming from what I've read from so many others here who have been very successful.
Also consider starting you own thread with you stats and goals. People will be able to give you more specific help.0 -

@nutmegoreo Oh I have no intention of trying to exist on calories that low, it has frequent binge attacks written all over it. I was hoping if I'd got my calculations wrong someone better at doing them than me could correct me. Sure I remember in the book saying nobody should go below 1800 calories, men at least. I was just completely shocked at those numbers so presumed I'd made a mess of it.
I want to lose a bit more fat, probably a stone at most. I lost five stone in 2012, put on a little bit of muscle in 2013, now just want to finish the job. I just gave this spike diet a look because in theory it sounded like a nice way of making a cut a bit more interesting. After doing it for so long diet adherence is now a bit of a mental challenge for me.0
