Beer drinker looking for partners for support

I weigh 210 lbs and want to get back to 180 (ideally even lower). I would like to lose 30 lbs in 6 months. Just got cholesterol tested and definitely need a diet change. I've used MFP before with temporary success. Biggest hurdle: beer.

    Ya, same thing for me, but mostly wine. Non-alch an option? Alcohol just undoes everything good I try to do for my body between calories and hangovers.

    Maybe reading How to Stop Drinking Wine by Craig Beck. Says wine, but he really talks about the marketing behind the alcohol industry, how alcohol is poison and it sure make me think with every sip. There's also this guy I follow on G+ who runs HAMS Harm Reduction Network--all about controlling the alcohol. He limits his drinking to a controlled intox about once a week and boy does he drink. That might work for some people.

    I cut wine to special occasions only. I tried fitting it into my calories, but it took up too many and left me with too little nutrition. Once in awhile I'll do that, but not everyday. I found that the less I drank, the less I wanted to drink too.

    there is a 'Dry January Challenge' you can join for support. You can search for it under Community and search. did it last year and it was exactly what I needed
