What is a similar and more widely available substitute for Ezekiel bread..?

The closest store that carries it to me is over an hour away and not in an area that I would want to go to for much of anything. Is there a similar more readily available bread..? I saw something about sprouted grain bread, and some little blurb that Walmart has it, but I don't think I've ever noticed it..? Any rec's..? Thanks!!

    Essene, malted or whole wheat bread. The nutritional difference isn't such that you should focus on getting a specific bread unless it makes up most of your diet. Just get a whole wheat from a local baker and not Walmart.

    Check the frozen section. I know I've seen Alvarado Street Bakery sprouted bread at Walmart before, which is similar to Ezekiel. Check the Natural Foods/Organic or Rolls/Biscuits/Garlic Bread sections in the frozen dept.

    Someone gave me a bread maker and i started making my own bread. I do use half whole wheat and half white flour, though, because using all wheat yielded a bread treat was too chewy for my 10 year old's fake front teeth...i don't know how much a bread maker is, but it's definitely worth looking into if you go through as much bread as my family does.

    I agree. Alvarado street is the best! They also have buns and bagels available that are sprouted.

    I used Ezekiel all the time until I discovered Alvarado Street Bakery. I get the Flax Seed - 2 slices is a serving size which = 100 cals + 18 carbs I get it at Walmart in the frozen section and always have at least two in my freezer.

    Costco and Trader Joes both have Ezekial.

    We make our own sourdough. Probably not quite as good as sprouted, but we aren't that skilled, lol. I do it either by hand or knead with the Kitchenaid dough hook. Its kind of a pain with 100% whole wheat, because it doesn't rise quite as easily as with white flour, but its worth it for us.

    Unfortunately, the closest Trader Joe's (as is Whole Foods) is also over an hour away, and we do not belong to Costco anymore..
    But I will definitely check out the other recommendations, thanks!!! :)
