Look into calorie cycling. Winter is the worst time for me; the cold means I am always hungry. This winter I needed to change how I eat my calories and move to try calorie cycling. My calorie total for the week is 11555, broken down: Mondays/Thursdays = 1275 calories, the rest of the week increases and decreases. I do not eat back my exercise calories.

I lost 1lb between Jan 1st and Jan 3rd. I am waiting to see what happens this Sunday - my weigh in day.

Try this site: www.freedieting.com to get a feel of what your numbers should be. Good luck.

Do you have an inspiration board / scrap book? I made a scrap book witjlh inspirational pictures, quotes and information. I also had a goal chart to keep me on track. I reviewed it daily to keep me motivated.

I eat back my exercise calories. It's worked for me in the past and is the best way personally to not feel hungry. Are you exercising? The joy of it is that it'll also give you a chemical boost. If not, find something that works for you. Just cutting food depresses me and introducing exercise makes a big difference to my body shape and consistency!

Also, without prying it does sound like your problems need addressing. Even if it weren't the trigger for emotional eating, if it's bringing you down you've got to do something.

Just start all over again without looking backwards - today is a new day with no calories in it yet - get back to logging and just start TODAY. I am an emotional eater as well, but I've been analyzing and working on that on the side (with the help of a therapist at one point) so as not to derail myself. Good luck!

ROFL, inspiring it may be (or not), but it is a true statement. We can try to inspire with ideas, but the driver behind this process is you. You have to have the mindset right to be able to do this. Also, see it as a change in lifestyle rather than a diet ... my inspirational message for today ... set (achievable) goals, and reward yourself when you reach them (not with food :) )
