Steroid question?

Little back ground: recently I have been having a lot of issues with sinuses which have been triggering migraines. This is my 3td sinus infection this month, therefore also my 3rd round of antibiotics. I was finally able to get into an ENT office on Monday who told me I have deviated septum and that Is causing sinuses not to drain this leading to infection. She put me steroids (not a ridiculously high dose) to try and help the swelling in sinuses to go down. Pretty much a last ditch effort to try and avoid surgery (next step if it conitunes).

Every time I take steroid I retain water like crazy. Wednesday is my weigh in day and I'm up 2lbs from last week.

Edit-MfP deleted the 3rd paragraph, whoops.

Question: is there anything I can do to combat the water retention or just have to to deal with it? I drink extra glasses of water but it doesn't really help.

Can't find the question, but had the same issue, same diagnosis and same treatment and holy cow, did those steroids make me hungry. I could eat EVERYTHING.

I got a steroid injection in my knee a couple of months back, and I couldnt fit into my jeans for like a week after... I didnt have a scale, so I dont know how much I was retaining, but I could def feel it lol

No, based on personal experience of being on steroids on and off for 10 years... You have to try and control that hunger (I know, impossible...) and battle through. Even if you maintain in that period, its pretty impressive giving what you are battling with..

    Good luck

I never said anything about hunger, that is not an issue. I am talking about water retention only.

Edit: I realize after I submitted that, it sounded more snarky than I meant. Sorry. On some heavy duty pain killers as well so my communication skill are not the best lol.

How is your salt intake? That might be affecting water retention

I retained fluid like hell. I just had to wait it out, I couldn't drink any more water than I already did. You could try a natural diuretic, like cranberry juice or dandelion tea.
