Quinoa - bad reaction?

Hi everyone, I have recently (re)started taking lunch to work, and made a really nice Chicken, Steamed veggies, mango and quinoa combination for this weeks lunches.

However, every day after eating lunch, I immediately start to feel insanely hungry, and slightly sick. It's a really strange sensation, and I can't figure out what it is. The only thing I can think is that it's acid reflux.

I wondered if it might be the quinoa, as everything else in the salad I eat on a regular basis.

Has anyone else experienced this with quinoa, or any other foods? Could it be something else?

Perhaps you didn't digest it well? Do you rinse it (or even better, soak it) before cooking?

    Or not enough fat?

Today eat something else and see if it still happens. If not, go back to the quinoa and see if happens. If it does, it's probably the quinoa.

Nothing else this week has made me feel like this so has to be the lunch!

I thought I washed them pretty thoroughly - under a running top for a few minutes - I had a bad taste experience before! Perhaps not enough?

Could it be a lack of fat? The lunch is: 555 calories, carbs: 39, fat: 13, protein: 66, sodium: 154, sugar:15.

Quinoa upsets my stomach, so yes, it could be the quinoa (as does too much fat in one meal)... As has been suggested, try eating something else and see how you react.

Ok thanks! It's good to know someone else has a bad reaction to it as everything I looked up on the Internet goes on about how amazing it is and the fact it could help with acid reflux!

No more quinoa for me I think.

    Thanks for the help.

Quinoa makes me husband really sick, it took the third time of him eating it then being violently sick for us to notice the connection. If you read up about it on line it does say it makes some people sick. I'm good with it so if he annoys me to much i can always put some quinoa in his food :o)

Haha don't tell my boyfriend! Luckily I haven't been that bad but it's good to know I'm not imagining it- thanks!
