I've been drinking lime juice (1/2 of the lime) with 1cup of warm water in the am on empty stomach and on pm before bed time to help me in my progress to loss weight and so far I'm liking the results. I got this recipe from a nutritionist

    Fire your nutritionist immediately.

Drinking lime juice (in and of itself) does not affect weight loss.

The "On an empty stomach" part is much more likely the cause.

Yeah, the "nutritionist" I saw a year ago prescribed "hot lemon water" three times a day. Worthless gimmick. Beware of those who call themselves nutritionists. See a registered dietician instead.

I think lemon juice in water acts as a diuretic. I'm not sure about lime, but it seems it would do the same. So perhaps that is the cause of the weight loss?

This is just adding calories to water. Just drink the water. There is NEVER of just add or eat this that affects fat burn (just more satiated). It's just cow much you eat of anything and the total calories.

If it's working for you, terrific. However, what makes you lose weight is eating less calories than you burn. So, maybe the water is taking the place of a snack you would normally be eating? While you are riding the success of the lime water, make other small changes toward your goal. Take a 30 minute walk a day. Add one vegetable into your diet a day. Whatever. Then, by the time you are ready to quit drinking lime water, you will have the tools in place to continue being successful.

All it does is cleanse your liver. So more toxins are coming out of you body. Its healthy, but does not burn any fat

I'm curious as to why you think flavored water would help with weight loss. If it's just because the nutritionist said so, I'm curious as to why you believed them.

This is not correct. Your liver and kidneys cleanse your body all by themselves. If they didn't, you'd be on dialysis.

Some of us have a hard time drinking plain water. I think this sounds delicious and healthy. Disregard the negativity of the few! My motto is to go by what works for you personally! It gives me pause about posting here or reading these forums....hmmm.

If only it was the easy. Remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The only way this helps is, as someone else mentioned, it replaces a caloric snack. I use tea and black coffee in this way between meals. Helps me put off my hunger a bit.

Drink it for flavour ... Yup I buy into that

Special powers above hydration is the issue

If this gives you pause for thought then that's sad ..hmmmm

People like you really need to learn the difference between who is being negative and who is stating fact. There was not one person here being negative.

Drinking flavoured water is absolutely fine if you just want to improve the taste but it's not an aid to weight loss.
The nutritionist is simply trading on people's desperation which is both sad and deeply obnoxious.

No-one is saying that lime juice and water is unhealthy. It's not negativity to point out the nutritionist is a charlatan.

Actually, try the juice of a lemon in water first thing in the morning before eating. I do that most every morning, and I also include fresh ginger root juice (grate in on fine grater, squeeze in your fist into the cup), add stevia and water/ice to taste. I believe the lemon helps stimulate the liver, and the ginger has multiple benefits. It also happens to taste so good!
Never heard of lime/water at bedtime. :)

^^The cause of weight loss is eating less calories than you burn, not drinking water with lemon, lime or anything else in it.

Perhaps you are feeling less hungry after drinking water, and eat less. A common tip for eating less at a meal, drink a cup of water before you eat and you may feel less hungry and eat less.

No one is saying "Don't drink lime water!" We're saying it's not going to help with weight loss in any special way. The only thing that will help with weight loss is maintaining a consistent calorie deficit. I drink lime water all the time (I prefer it with lemon, or even cucumber), but I don't ascribe mystic fat-fighting superpowers to it.

There are lots of ways to flavor water but something like a 0 calorie mio would be better for weightloss. Also it's harder to measure the calories your adding to the water all day for tracking acuratly by squeezing a fruit into it.
