Anybody Doing The Soup Diet (that has a BMI of 22-23%)

Hello,
I just started my soup diet today to see what it does for me. It's for 7 days. I want to see if it will help me drop fat accumulated over the holidays.
If you have a BMI of 22-23%, did it do anything beneficial for you?

Are you about to have surgery? The website says this diet was designed for people who need to lose weight rapidly for surgery.
Any weight you lose on this diet will be water, not fat. If you want to drop fat, you should rethink this.0 -

I've watched my sister struggle through this diet a few times and all she ever got from it was hangry. In my personal experience, the emotional and hormonal roller coaster these kinds of diets can cause is a serious turn off and a terrible way to start any kind of changes.0

Considering you don't get any significant amount of protein for the first 4 days of your diet, this seems to be another in a long line of ridiculous, unhealthy diets.0

Day 7 is back to 1500cals a day approx...of healthy foods. No chips, cake, candy, reg pop, juice, chocolate, icecream. None!0

I don't see it being unhealthy because none of the foods in it are unhealthy, it covers all the food groups (over a week view instead of 1 day though) AND it's only for 7 days.
If not fat is lost, just water...so what. It's good to lose water weight and rid of your bloat0 -

But you want to lose fat not water and as soon as you start eating regular food the water comes back on.0 -

Oh yes! And I also wanted to use this week to test out how my body responds to no bread or dairy. Im a big yogurt eater and maybe it's effecting me by causing bloating. My plan was to omit the milk/dairy on the day it says have skim milk.0

So your plan is to cut even more nutrients from this nutrient-deficient plan?
In your OP you said you wanted to lose fat. I know you later said you didn't care that this diet will not result in fat loss, but think about it -- with a reasonable plan, you get all your nutrients AND you can lose fat and water weight.

In your OP you said you wanted to lose fat. I know you later said you didn't care that this diet will not result in fat loss, but think about it -- with a reasonable plan, you get all your nutrients AND you can lose fat and water weight.

Exactly. You can eat anything you want within a healthy calorie limit, including healthy fats and protein. Or you can eat soup and deprive your body of much needed nutrients0 -

Before I read the link, I assumed it was like chicken broth and veggies only. Turns out, there IS some decent nutritional value in this diet, although I'm not sure why you'd want to flush your system this way vs. just drinking lots of water and eating a balanced, sustainable diet? But hey, if it gets the ball rolling, have at it! Just don't think "Yeah! I lost 10+ lbs and can go back to eating what I ate before Christmas!" because that won't turn out too well...0

But in all seriousness...you're here on MFP. Have you considered, just trying to use the tools of this site the way they were intended? You know...set yourself a reasonable daily calorie goal, eat a nice variety of foods you like within that goal, get a little exercise, etc.
Maybe you'll find that style doesn't fit you, and you need to try something else. But since you're already here and all, why not give it a try instead of looking for some ridiculous, unnatural (meaning, I doubt you plan on eating this way long-term), diet?0 -
I'm all for cutting out dairy or bread if you think it's having a negative effect on you. Do one at a time obviously, and I think it has to be around 4 weeks to see if it makes any difference. Alternatively, do what I do... Keep a food diary ( I use mfp for that nowadays) and make notes of any bloating or cramps or whatever, compare the two logs and see if there is a pattern
Honestly though, for your long term plan, try mfp and see how you get on. Best thing I ever did xx0 -

I do use and have used MFP how its intended! Have lost weight too! I wanted to try something diffent and USED Mfp to get information on it and found out it's not really needed. So yes, I do use MFP. I actually exercise too. lol0 -

Day 7 is back to 1500cals a day approx...of healthy foods. No chips, cake, candy, reg pop, juice, chocolate, icecream. None!
So you don't you just do that now and avoid unneccessary diets? No one lives on soup forever-it's a good idea to practice long-lasting lifestyle changes rather than torture yourself with soup.0 -

If you love them, then why would you ever cut them out of your diet? It kind of sounds like you've fallen for a few hyped up fad diet ideas. The whole carbs are bad/anti glutton craze.
If you read some of the stickied posts at the top of the forums you can get a better idea of the basics needed for weightloss.0 -

Yes I probably have...I am thinking maybe I would "feel better" if I did an experiment by avoiding them. But yes I would never want to avoid them unless it gave me a great benefit by avoiding them.
