It's comical how they make fun of diet woo at the beginning of the article, then proceed to spout a bunch of their own woo.

Cardio is a fine way to burn more but it is absolutely not necessary as long as you just eat at a caloric deficit.

Cardio is for heart health. It helps to contribute to calorie burn, but if you eat more calories than you burn even if you did 5 days of cardio at 60 minutes, you won't lose weight.

Lol, the fat inside your muscles

It sounds like someone failed their high school anatomy class, read an article about visceral fat, suffered a lapse in reading comprehension and decided to sum it all up in a fitness article

Visceral fat is not the same thing as "belly fat," it is located around your internal organs, it's not something you can see or feel jiggle when you run.

Maintaining a healthy amount of visceral fat is considered very important for long term health, and aerobic exercise seems to play more of a role in losing visceral fat as opposed to subcutaneous fat (the jiggly belly, hide your abs kind).

If you're a healthy young person who just wants a more cut/toned physique, you're probably beyond having to worry about it. That having been said, cardio is good for humans and should really be part of everyday life, even if it's just walking or having a nice leisurely bike ride. :)

Can't blame them for wanting to avoid using technical jargon like "proximal to the muscle layer", which tends to tune people out. Anyway, visceral fat does affect the appearance of the abdomen, so i don't see the problem with mentioning it. :+1:

Seriously, did you guys read the article? I do not think those ideas are what the author had in mind.

I once had a guy tell me that when you're dieting right your poop will float because it has more fat in it. I mean, yes there are lipids in human feces and yes fat is less dense than water but that does not make his reasoning any less specious.
