HRM

So I bought a Polar F6 (ouch!) so I am supposed to trust its reading over what the machines say when I work out right? The idea that I have a count that is 90% is super appealing, I know one with a chest strap is more accurate but I cannot afford it, and every one said polar was the brand to have. Did I do right -->imploring face<--

The Polar F6 Model does have a chest strap - do you have a different version? Technically, the HRM is set to YOUR personal settings, so it should be far more accurate than a machine's reading.0

Really the product description did not mention a strap so I had assumed, but if it does YAY!0

Are you meaning a Polar Ft60? I don't think they make the Polar F6 anymore.. and the Ft60 does have a chest strap.0

Got it on amazon, so yes it is the Polar F6, if it is discontinued it would explain why I could sort of afford it0

I thought it had a chest strap. I hope for your sake it does because without one it is useless for calculating calories. MFP or the machine you would be working out on would be as accurate. The reason for this is because without the chest strap it only measures you HR when you tell it to, but your HR varies throughout your workout quite a lot. If you ask for it at a point where your HR is up really high, it will calculate calories based on that high HR and they will be way to high. If you ask when it is low, the same thing happens, but the calorie count will be too low. If you are repeatedly touching it for a HR, you are not concentrating on your workout, and thus not getting the workout you should. Let's hope it has a chest strap or it is only good for checking your HR.0
