How did I get to be two!?

I was looking at some pictures over the holidays and found one of me! This one was a full shot of my body from a side profile! I don't know how I didn't see it before, maybe it was the fact that I usually only look from the neck up. But needless to say that was the straw that broke this camels back.
So I started looking for weight loss self help and came across this app. I need to lose over 120+ lbs. I've been logging since Jan 5th, and I'm feeling better about myself everyday! Yes I know this journey is going to take a while, but its one that is definitely worth it!
Thank you to all who have posted. The support in all of the forums are wonderful! Makes me realize I'm not alone in this adventure!

Rejoined today and I'm with you! Where did it all come from. It's one step at a time and subtle (sustainable) changes that we need. Good luck! We can do it!

Welcome !! Your in the right place ! Just get yourself a food scale and learn how to weigh all your solids and measure liquids ( it sounds easier then it is ! It took Me weeks and months to get it right ! Lol ) weight loss comes down to calories. Remember- calories in / calories out. As long as you eat less then you burn, you will lose weight. In order to lose weight you must be eating at a calorie deficit. Calorie deficit - weight loss . there's no special diets, fads or gimmicks needed. Just eat less :) best of luck to you !!!

Welcome! A photo was a wake-up call for me, too. I started here in early 2014 and lost 95 lbs. Been maintaining for a while, although I may decide to lose a bit more this year.

This is wonderful. I had the same experience -- once I took control and started doing positive things for myself and losing I felt so much better, even early on when I was still quite far from where I wanted to be weight-wise. It helped me have the patience to keep going for the length of time I knew it would take (and work it into my life so that the changes would be permanent) and made it a generally positive and fun process. Glad you are having a similar experience.

    You can do it!

I am amazed at how distorted my perception of what an appropriate portion was and am trying to relearn how to eat. I am starting slowly so I don't get discouraged and give up. I know too, that my weight loss will take a long time accomplish. In all fairness I have to remember I didn't gain all this weight in a few months either. So give yourself grace friend and keep at it!
