Let me start out by saying I do not sell Beachbody nor am I interested in purchasing anything related. Fact is I found Beachbody "on demand," it's super cheap and works for me.

With that, I am on day 4 of Insanity and I'm wondering if incorporating lifting a few days a week would help me get in shape quicker. Any one else have experience with this?

In my experiences with Insanity (completed 7 weeks before injury, completed the first month 5 times with no issues), I had no energy to do ANYTHING else whilst training it fully. If I tried to do anything else (squash or run) I could not complete the Insanity workout that evening.
During each workout are you completely out of breath / unable to complete an exercise at least once? At the end of each work out are you absolutely dripping in sweat??
I am in awe of your cardio if you can do Insanity with full intensity AND still have energy to lift weights.
Not sure this post helps you, but I am interested to know if your insanity workout programme is the same as mine.
Glad you are loving it though, I think it's an excellent exercise regime.
    Lu :)

Thank for replying, your right i'm not going as hard as I should. Thats why I feel like I should do more. Not sure if I need a preworkout to help me "MAX OUT" but for some reason I stall

I've tried Insanity and it's a tough program. I would incorporate some weight training in addition to the program but I ensured that my diet was tailored for the increased exercise. And also ensured that I got enough rest on those days I added workouts. I'm not sure if it'll get you in shape faster but it definitely will make you feel fatigued and lethargic if you don't accompany it with increased calorie intake and rest.

@ARGriffy you get used to it ;)
@MB_Val instead of an extra work out, up your calories a little and push harder in the Insanity Workout. I used to just try to do one more of everything from the last repeat.
@ insanity Tanya- I hate your perfect face

I have done the full rotation of Insanity multiple times. The first month is all about learning the moves and getting your fitness up.

The second month will kick your butt in ways you didn't know someone could.

Don't worry about adding more right now. The second month will rock yog socks off trust me.

If you are just patient and put the effort in, Insanity will sculpt your body into a work of art. I promise you.
    Stick with it.
You'll never regret the effort you put in now.

Is the second month 'that' much harder? I was toying with the same use! Doing strength training on t-th-sat. Although I feel like I'm giving my max during the workout, my cardio seems to be such that I recover a couple hours later. So I'd insanity in the am and lift in the pm. Too much?

hi there! quick question: how do you know you're doing the correct form?

    Here's some context...

I'm trying Insanity Max 30, and even when I know I'm doing my best I found this Shaun T video and boom!!! I know I'm doing exactly that error he mentions...
search the youtube title "Shaun T explains How to Max Out in Insanity Max 30",
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQtWxLYmbrE

So, how do you guys learn the proper technique for each exercise? mirror? step by step before a session? coach?

Thanks for the help and wish me luck on this new journey

The Second Month is just incredible. That is when the real hard work starts and the body sculpting begins in earnest. IMHO I could not do justice to any other work out if I was giving 100% to the Insanity workouts.
Everyone is different I guess, so you could try it and find out whether it works for you.
    good luck

I've completed Insanity and Insanity Asylum. You do not need to incorporate strength training if you follow the program to a T and give it your best.
Like some have said, the second month is on a completely different level than the first. You work out for 20-30 minutes longer and the workouts only get harder to the point of ridiculous. It's incredibly tough, and if you are able to manage another workout after completing it, you may not be putting in your all.

I did T25 (round 2) and Insanity at the same time for month 1 of Insanity. I did T25 in the morning before work and in the evening right after work, I would do Insanity. I've never slept better in my life, lol.

But it is tough to do two programs at once. I definitely don't suggest it for month 2. I leaned after the first week, that doubling up would do more harm than good.

My suggestion is make sure you're eating enough and make sure you break up the programs, i.e. 1 in AM and 1 in PM.

    Good luck!

I did a second round of T25 while doing Insanity. The key for me was doing T25 in the morning before work and Insanity in the evening after work. I wouldn't do it again bc it was a real punishment, but I felt amazing. I slept so hard every night, lol. Make sure you eat enough, especially if you're going to incorporate another program.

I can't say I would recommend doing something in addition to Insanity, but I was just crazy back then, lol.

    Good luck.

I do crossfit and insanity...Usually not the same day though. It all depends on your goals and what you are comfortable doing. 3 days a week I do go to the gym twice (crossfit morning and regular gym night).

unfortunately with speed comes lack of form. If its a new move take it slower that helps. For instance alot of lunges and squat moves that require jumping around not done right (not low enough) so slowing down and paying attention to your movement helps. I have feel on my butt alot in insanity cause I try to go to fast lol good luck!

Why don't you do a hybrid so you alternate weight lifting days and insanity days? P90x and body beast are beach body programs that offer weight training.
