Working night shift

Hey,

I work night shift in a super market which requires me to work 4 nights per week. I have an issue with tracking calories on the app because I begin work for example on a Tuesday at 9pm and finish at 7am on Wednesday (back to work Wednesday night at 9pm again).

I like to track my calories on the app and I know it's possible to change the times of the reminders but I was wondering if it's possible to track my breakfast at say 5pm on a Tuesday and then dinner at 1am on Wednesday when my first break is? (Without the calories resetting for a new day)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

When I was working overnights I switched my meals to be titled to times rather than a meal title.

    "0000-0400, 0400-0800 etc"

Then I just put the food in the time period it was eaten.

Go to Food > Settings and look for "Meal Names" and rename as you see fit. :) The calories will still reset for a new day at midnight but it shouldn't matter in the end; if you're eating "dinner" at 8am when you get off and then have "breakfast" at 4pm before you go to work, you'll still be able to track your calories overall as long as you're diligent. You're having breakfast, lunch and dinner - just at different times.

Think of it in terms of time frames, as kdcomstock89 said, rather than breakfast, lunch, etc, which could make you feel more out of the loop.

    This

    I work nights too, my meal times are 00:00 - 02:00 / 02:00 - 06:00 / 06:00 - 12:00 / 12:00 - 18:00 / 18:00 - 21:00 / 21:00 - 00:00

This fits my schedule well, and I just log my foods in the times I eat, I think its actually more accurate this way, as you see your meal patterns more....

    Good luck

I'm really sorry and I'm probably being blind, but I can't seem to find the food tab! Do you need the premium version to do so? Also I'm on the iPhone app incase that affects it?

I can't find it in the setting to change it though? I'm on the iPhone app if that matters.

i work permanent nights, I just count calories midnight to midnight. It doesn't really matter when you eat them ??. when i come on to rest days, i am still counting midnight to midnight. whether food is entered under the correct time or not doesn't matter does it, as long as you keep within your count. if all food eaten during that period was entered under "dinner" does it make a difference ? You didnt eat it all at once

I believe it's only available through the main site, not on the app. Go to www.myfitnesspal.com in your browser, log in and you should see the Settings tab at the top. Click that, then select Diary Settings from the list.
