Hello everyone. I'm Bobbie.
I just started a vegan cleanse to get myself motivated to be healthy again. Anyone else doing one?

    Hey,

What's vegan cleanse what's your main reason for doing it?

The kidneys do a great job of cleansing and I personally don't believe cleanses are even necessary but I could be wrong.

    Rob's correct!

Eating/drinking to cleanse or detox is quackery. They're merely terms to market fad diets, rainbow colored smoothies and supplements. Take in foods and liquids that don't harm or damage your liver and kidneys and you'll benefit from all the cleansing and detoxing these organs were meant to do.

Eating a vegan diet is a very good & extremely healthy way to do a cleanse. Do the research on it & you will like what you will find & may even decide to transition to eating a vegan diet full time. It is not a "fad diet" but a way if living. A good scientific book to read is The China Study by T. Colin Campbell. It is kind of boring but it is very informational so if you are truley interested, check it out :)

Define "cleanse"? What accumulates in one's body that needs to be eradicated by a specific diet? Where is all this bad stuff stored in one's body that needs to be removed?

The "China Study" isn't a "scientific" book. Campbell jumps the gun on protein sources other than plant sources without having evidence to support his stance.
Nothing wrong with going vegan if that's what one wants to do, but one doesn't HAVE to omit meat from their diet to be "extremely" healthy.
And as others have said, cleanses and detoxes are bunk. There's no peer reviewed clinical studies that support that they remove anything from the body with the exception of some water weight. The fiber you may increase helps to keep going to the bathroom regularly, but one doesn't need to overload on fruits/vegetables to do it.

    "Vegan cleanse"???

You have someone who doesn't eat animal products wash you?
How does that help you be healthy (at least, more than you taking a shower yourself)??

Or if this is some kind of internal body "cleanse", what does it clean out?
Why isn't your body removing that (whatever it is) now?
Do your kidneys, liver, lungs, and intestines function as they should, or are you writing from an ICU?

I agree that most people don't get the whole grains, fruits, & vegetables they should,
and that whole grains, fruits, & vegetables are important for health,
    but they're not magical.

    Eat a normal, balanced diet,
get at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise every day,
and if you're like most people, your health will most likely improve.

Ok... I have to chime in. As a longtime vegan I enjoy helping people find resources. I see the China Study get thrown around a lot! This book is not scientific, has been debunked many times and proven to be a bad study that has no bearing on what it was actually studying due to lack of control factors, lack of addressing genetic illness, and the fact that the people they were studying were not eating their normal diet, but feast diets during the time of study to impress the non-native visitors.

There are plenty of better studies out there, and I just hate to see this one get used as if it were actually science fact.

I am absolutely clean from vegans, because I refuse to not eat meat.

But yes, be careful about "research" and "proof" you find because you can also find information on things Abraham Lincoln said about the internet. Just because someone wrote something doesn't make it true.

Is that like throwing all the vegans in your closet into the washing machine ?

Seems to me you've gotten a lot of great information. Is that not supportive?
