Alli

I actually tried them (for free) from a friend. Liquid orange sharts, even when eating less fat than they recommend. I couldn't fart without being over a toilet for a month. It did give the toilet a really cool 'oil globule' look to the top of the water though, like adding vegetable oil to poopy water.0

Hi
I have been struggling to lose weight and spoke with my doctor. They've put me on Xenical which is basically the prescribed form of Alli as it's double the strength.
No accidents at all, the start is a little nervy and worrying but it teaches you not to overdo fat. You can be a little loose at first so just be aware but I've never experienced any of the horror stories at all.
You have to meet criteria with your GP, then you have to achieve 5% loss in your first month. It's achieveable and then I've been allowed a further 2 months tablets.
So far I've lost 10lb in my first month and feel absolutely fine on them. I have done it to kick start my weight loss and it's helped. I'm soon coming off them and I've already started clean eating to help the transition.
You take them when there's fat in your food, so not with a salad. But any fat in the food, take one. Obviously you don't eat rubbish food and expect the tablets to do its work. You need to eat pretty well and put in a little exercise.
I can't tell you any horror stories but it all comes down to what you put in. Excess fat will come out and just be aware that going to the toilet at first or high fat consumption can make it feel a bit worrying if you go in a toilet say at work as it's loose.
It's worth a go, even if for a month.
Good luck and don't be put off by the horrors. Sensible intake will keep everything under control.

Hi thanks for your input, what's the criteria for this? Do you think it's worth me talking to my gp about it?0 -
Since it can block nutrient absorption of vitamins A, D, E, K, take it separately from a mult vitamin (at least 2 hours).
Doesn't this pill only absorb like 5 grams of fat (or a very tiny, itsy amount?)0 -
Don't do it! Search for the "Orlistat" thread and pick a calorie deficit. It works, every time.0
-
I currently use them. I follow the directions and don't have anal leakage. lol But I try to keep myself on a low fat diet to avoid having to use them.0
-
So why don't people save a ton of money and just eat 5 less grams of fat a day?0

What "unbiased" bank of reviews were you reading that didn't have stories of people farting out orange oil slicks?0

Alli is the lower dose, it blocks 25 percent of the fat you eat. Xenical is a higher dose and blocks more. You can take it with up to 15 grams of fat per meal without risking side effect. So 15 grams times 3 meals = 45 grams. 45 grams times nine calories [one grams of fat has nine calories] = four hundred and five. One quarter of that is a hundred and one. That's how many cals you'd save.
Let's say you're silly and eat more fat than you should, like twenty grams per meal. That's sixty grams, times nine = 540 calories. That's 135 cals blocked.

Can eat up to 15 grams of fat per meal. 25% of that is 3.75 grams of fat. (I thought it was 2 grams of fat, my bad)
3 meals a day savings of 11 grams of fat saved per day. $$$
Vitamins should be taken with food since some minerals need fat. Alli should not be taken with every meal.
To make sure you don't eat more than 15 grams of fat at each meal, you would have to log very accurately.0 -
To me, it's one of those things that's always been super tempting, but like I've read time and time again, If it really worked the way the marketers try to tell you it does, nobody would be fat.0

I've been battling with issues of my weight for a long time, finally started to stop bitching about it and start doing something about it. I've seen really good reviews about Alli weight loss pills, what do you guys think about them? (I already know I need to eat well and exercise obviously)
They are wonderful at causing one to drop orange oily poop in your drawers.
If that doesn't fit into your lifestyle you might want to avoid this drug.0 -

When it still required a prescription in the States my doc put me on it. I learned to carry a change of clothes to work. I don't want to relate exactly why I learned that.
It did make me VERY conscious of the amount of fat I was eating. I lost weight on it and gained all that and more back after I went off the drug.

It was a bad idea to read this thread while eating dinner.0

Here is a breakfast story:
She drank guiness beer. At a concert she kneeled down on the carpet. Trying to hold in the lava. Let out of a fart that echoed the room.

Awesome that this happened all in public.
Gosh, I would just try to eat 25% less fat !!!

The problem with all of these kind of pills/magic/woo/super duper healthy and fast weight lost solution power diets is the fact...
When you want to lose weight you need to eat in a deficit and to maintain your weight loss you need to learn the habit of eating that way. Or you will bounce back up.
So after this kind of diet most people still have to start learning to eat in a deficit or their new habit.
Why not start off the right way?
Every diet works ( with good or bad results, with healthy or unhealthy ways) as long as you create that deficit.
But eating or starting to eat the way you want to maintain your weight later when you stop losing weight is the only way to keep it off.
Why eat pills go low carb, eat gluten free, sugar free if you dont want to eat that your whole life? Why make it so difficult while it is not difficult at all.
As long as you dont have any medical reason to change or cut out foods why should you make it harder than it really is.
