Love both. But trying to lose 20 lbs and so and a spare tire. Is wine better than beer for less stomach fat.

What? Just go by calories. Less calories are best for fat loss.0

I personally think wine is better, and red wine has the bonus of beneficial antioxidants. Beer may leave you bloated. Not to sound cheesy, but anything and everything in moderation really is the key!0

Don't say things like that. You'll hurt alcohol's feelings!0 -

Yep, this. Have what you want, just make sure it's accounted for. Also agree with the liquor with no calorie mixers0 -

Wine. Wine will get you buzzed with less calories. You'll need a few beers to buzz you, usually 150+ cal each, and usually less wine will do the trick with less cal (125ish per 5oz glass)

Thanks all. I've been having one glass a night and adding it to my diary. Calories are calories. Wasn't sure about all the other ingredients that beer contains.
ReadyWillingEager made my decision for me. Thanks. Excellent thought0 -
Calories in vs calories out-both are fine if they fit in your daily caloric intake. I personally prefer wine over beer as it's less bloating.0

I have NEVER been able to drink just one glass of wine. A serving is 5 ounces !!! With beer, I will avoid opening that second can. With an open bottle of wine....0

Lol, I hear ya. Control usually isn't an issue. There has been a few nights where 3 or 4 beers have helped. I try to wait until after dinner when my food has settled and an hour or two before I go to sleep. 1 glass seems to relax me enough

How about no drinking
How exactly does one ingest beer and wine without drinking? Don't be absurd![/quote]
Right! I've read multiple studies that show A drink a night can actually be good for you. I'm leaning towards red wine for the heart and antioxidants mentioned earlier but also less bloating that beer gives

Just thought this needed a second lol0 -
I wish I could still drink beer. It has not been agreeing with me. Wine and whiskey for now on!0

As stated, it's all about calorie amounts and your deficit. Neither will help you gain/get rid of belly fat without a deficit. Drink which you prefer and make them fit.
I drink both...Depends on the occasion.0 -
I, personally, keep alcohol to weekends because for me it adds a bit of bloat. On the weekends, I drink like it is my job.*
But, really, log the calories. Neither is better or worse. They'll change your macros in different ways if you care about that. If you want a drink, have a drink. Just log it.
*Sarcasm disclaimer: this was a joke. You can't get paid for drinking, silly, or I am pretty sure we would have a 0% unemployment rate.
(And, in case you don't speak sarcasm, it really was a joke. Weekends, maybe two a night. I just want to ward off the lectures and judgement.)

Drink what you want and go from there. Alcohol on it's own has 7 calories per gram by itself. That would be if drinking straight up liquor. 1oz of 40 proof alcohol yields you about 22 grams, or 154 calories
You're generally looking at about 125 calories for a 5oz glass of red wine or 150-170 for 12oz of beer (depends on the beer or wine).
Just make sure to adjust for the additional calories through diet or exercise.0 -

Generally speaking, the better the beer, the higher the calorie count. There are a couple I have behind my bar that are almost 500 calories per bottle.

Actually you can get paid for drinking. I sometimes audit bartenders and drinks are required. I get paid and get free drinks. I know, pretty cool gig right!

when i was losing weight i had an easier time fitting in wine and spirits than the really good beer that i like. good beer is a calorie bomb.0

If you enjoy both than drink both! Just work it into you daily allowance of cals. When I want something I have it, regardless of "reasoning, the blah, blah, blah," whatever I want it I have it! I just make it fit into my macros/calories or bust my tush that much harder.
If you can't enjoy the things that you like in life than what good is life. Just saying!
Also, moderation is a good thing.
Good luck.
