Is it really making a difference in your weight loss? I'm deciding if I should get one or if it is just a waste of money

I think it is a good tool but there are many activities that you have to manually add such as biking or weight training that Fitbit does not track. Mine does not track steps that great but it is nice to have

I think it's a good tool. I have the HR. I am a very visual person. I like seeing where I am through the day, as far as steps, heart rate etc... I think it's a good investment!

I have a flex, it only tracks my steps really. It gives me a calorie burn but I'm not 100% sure how it comes up with that. I'd love to upgrade to a charge HR but haven't yet.

I have a flex and I really like it. I would love the hr but for now this has worked. Like others say the flex only does steps but that's OK because between the flex and mfp I can track pretty much anything.

I have the charge Hr, got it for Christmas and I'm really enjoying using it, I like the way that I can see how my heart rate changed in my workout. I find that checking it every so often motivates me to make better decisions in my daily routine which will help my weightloss. I don't think the food tracking of fit bit is as user friendly as the Mfp one, so I am using Mfp for all my food tracking still.

Question for you guys, does the Fitbit only work with a phone? I have an ancient computer and a Windows tablet, and I don't want to waste money on one if it won't work with any of my electronics.

No. It works for phones, android devices and a computer. You can download the Fitbit program to your comp.

I got a Fitbit Charge HR as a present for myself in early November because of a really good checkup with the doctor. I started at 250 in early March and just hit 173.2 (healthy BMI) this weekend. The Charge HR is really motivating me to keep my step count up (over 20K steps a day this month so far). I'm going to incorporate resistance training as soon as I have recovered from an injury.

It really depends on the user. Some people are motivated by more data, and for some it doesn't make any difference. I like it because I can see in black and white exactly what I'm doing.

To answer your question--yes. Maybe it's because I'm data driven and I want to see what my steps, activities, calories, everything in front of me. Maybe it's because I'm competitive so my 'friends' and I are always doing weekend challenges, work week challenges, etc., to up our step game. Maybe it's because with Fitbit I have been more motivated to get more active.

I have lost 12 pounds so far, and do credit Fitbit with helping me along the way. It has been fun coming up with more creative ways to get activity in.

It's great, but it is a tool. It's not doing any work for you :) I love how just wearing it keeps me mindful of my purpose and goals. All day!

    i have one (charge hr).

i dont really USE it though. i mean, i wear it. its linked to mfp. but i track everything IN mfp so other than random data.... it doesnt do much for me. i dont 'complete' with anyone or participate in challenges or even care about steps.

im pretty sure at some point I'll sell it. LOL

I have the Surge - theres no way it accurately tracks calories. I log all my food on MFP and sync it, and it always tells me I'm eating at a 1000 calorie a day deficit, when in reality, its probably less than 100. That being said, I love being able to see my heart rate, so when I strength train I know its time to do another set if my HR drops too low. Its also nice to see your steps - kind of motivates me to keep moving if Im slacking one day.

I'm looking for Friends to share some challenges with. Add me on here!

I got my One in Sept and have used it every day. Dr. recommended this site to work with my Fit Bit. I am over 200 lbs. and I am loosing wt. I bought my Fit Bit One to track my moving and sleep. Love it. I even track my food now so I am more aware of what and amount of food I eat.

Yes, this. I need data to know how I'm doing, and entering exercise in MFP did not motivate me at all to improve. However, having a clear visual on how many steps I have made and still have to go? Works like a charm for me, and has drastically improved my ability to ensure that I stay within a calorie deficit in the months that I've had it.
