Flavored water the same as water?

So all I drink is water. I'll have some V8 Fusion once in awhile, but otherwise it's all water. I don't like pop or other stuff so I don't have many options! But I'm getting bored with water. Is flavored water the same as water as far as your water intake for the day? I really like the flavored waters from Wal Mart so can I start adding a bottle of that towards my water goal for the day?

I use Mio and it has no calories so it is the same. I'm not sure about the flavored water at wal-mart. I would think if it has no calories it would count as the same.0

you just have to check the labels...some of them have calories/sodium...they are all over the place!0

♥ I started using the MIO Liquid Water Enhancer.. You can buy it anywhere.. Awesome flavors!! I have a problem of drinking just straight water throughout the day and this helps so much. I drink atleast 12 glasses a day.. I also like the Crystal Light to go packets. ♥0

Check the sugar content, calories etc... Other wise adding Crystal Light to your water might work.
Check them both out and see!0 -
I use fresh lemon or lime in mine. Gives it a nice hint of flavor and also helps keep your kidneys/liver functioning smoothly4

I use the flavor water packets that they sell at Walmart. It is basically generic crystal light and yes I count it as water1

i just put fruit in my water and its like a bonus because adds flavor to water and its a treat when u get to the bottom of the bottle or cup
cherries plums peaches ect2 -
You will get a million opinions on this of course.
If you stick with "0" calorie flavoring such as MIO or Crystal Light to go packs, you should be fine. They have not had any adverse effects on me so far and I drink them in 80% of my water.0 -
In my opinion, only WATER is water. Flavored waters typically have artificial sweeteners (to keep it 0 calories) which can wreak havoc on your body. Treat your body well and only drink REAL water. If you need flavor, add fruit (not lemon, the acidity isn't great for your tooth enamel).14

YES. Crystal Light and Mio added to water still count as water. Coffee, tea and pop DON'T count b/c of the caffeine they are not hydrating products it’s basically a negative beverage – no harm, no benefit.
If you are talking about carbonated flavoured water which are sooooooooo delicious and usually .99 at grocery stores the ingredient in the back usually just says water so you're probably ok to count it.8 -
Yes, for water intake they are the same. If they contain other things like sugar, sodium, calories and you are tracking those then you should probably enter it as food too.1

Anywhere BUT Canada though... still waiting for it to come on up. Dam thing is by Kraft and Kraft Canada is a billion dollar company, what's with the hold-ups lame-o's!!! LOL!0 -
When I use Mio or a flavored drink enhancer (with no calories, sodium, and etc.), I count it as water.0

I drink Vitamen water Zero and something called Skinny Water(can be found at Target!).
Both are zero calories and I count that towards my water goal.0 -
At my cousins wedding they put some cucumber in the water which was pretty nice.
I don't think flavoured water is the same. It'd count as your water intake, sure, but you've got all your articial sweeteners (as mentioned, it could have adverse effects on your body), hidden calories/carbs/sugar/etc.6 -

You are correct that it's not the "same" as water, but the point of logging glasses of water a day is to make sure that you are drinking enough fluids. And in that sense, it would count the same as plain water.3 -
I see this was answered but just for clarification; as long as all 0 it can count as your water intake? I usually drink just plain water, but wanted something different without the calories, etc. I have sparkling water called Clear American with different flavors like black cherry, strawberry, mango, etc.. It is naturally flavored sparkling water beverage with other natural flavors. Calories, total fat, sodium, total carbs, sugars, proteins are all 0. I am not sure if I will like it, but going to give it a try.0

You get hydration from all fluids and many foods. Coffee, tea, soda, flavored water all count towards that. (Yes, even caffeinated beverages contribute to hydration)
As long as your urine is pale yellow, you're hydrated. Drink what you like.10 -
Plenty of flavored sparkling/seltzers that don’t have artificial sweetners, just hint of fruit. Love them and yes, it counts as water.0

It counts as water. They do contain various acids for flavor enhancement, and that was causing problems for my tooth enamel so I don't drink them anymore for that reason, but they will hydrate you just the same.0

It counts as water no matter if it has calories or not, just log the calories
Stuff like Clear American is NOT sparkling water, it is a "sparkling water beverage" which is a fancy way to say that it is a clear diet soda. It has flavor and sweetener. Seltzer is unsweetened so it is flavored water.
ETA: interesting that an 8 year old necro thread gets revived. Same questions, same answers1 -
Most have Splenda (otherwise known as Sucralose) in them. Yes, it's water, yes they can be quite tasty...but be aware they do have artificial sweetners in them that may cause you issues.
I found out the hard way that I'm allergic to Sucralose3 -

This is not true.

OP is from 2011.
But liquid is liquid, just watch your pee color.5 -
I drink Frut water from Aldi's. It's zero calorie and helps me get more water in, so I count it as the same.0
-
No it doesn't hurt unless it has calories but that's not much of an issue either. Like nothing wrong would happen if you just sip 50 more calories, they would get balanced because the more water you drink would be helping you to burn calories. Plain water is a real struggle, i go for lemonade and that s a delicious option7
-
Plain water is best...sure. But it's not like if you add a little flavoring it's suddenly terrible for you. And really, even diet soda counts MOSTLY as water.5

I use Mio when I drink plain water, I don't drink coffee or soda, so since Mio has caffeine and I love the taste. But i also drink the sparkling waters. I LOVE them. They really satisfy a sweet craving and the label say they are 0 calories though, since one bottle is 2 servings, I am sure they are closer to 10 calories. Some brands even say they are 10 calories.0

Just out of curiosity, how can sparkling water satisfy a sweet craving when they are not sweetened? Also, most Mio does not have caffeine. Mio Energy does but it is the only variety.0 -

Even if it has calories, it's still essentially water. Just make sure you count those calories.1
