1. It's your choice.
2. It depends on the kind you buy as to what features they have.
3. They probably give you a good idea of how much you're burning during the day which can be helpful and potentially motivating.
4. That also depends on what kind of activity tracker you purchase.0 -
I have a fitbit flex, and I LOVE it. It's very simple. I just sync it to MFP and wear it everyday. Fitbit keeps track of how many steps I take, which it uses to estimate how many calories I burn in a day (mine also tracks sleep, which I find interesting, but not particularly helpful for weight loss). Fitbit tells MFP how many calories I burn, and MFP adds or subtracts from my goal based on what fitbit tells it about my activity.
It basically simplifies the calories in / calories out equation. I use MFP to track calories in, and fitbit tracks calories out. Voila!0 -
I absolutely loooove mine. One question I have for anyone is I used to have the Fitbit charge and loved it but for Xmas my husband bought me the charge hr because I thought it would more accurately give me stats. A few things I have definitely noticed though is that with the HR I have fewer steps doing the same things as the charge but that my "calories burned" is higher than they were with the regular charge. Does this make any sense? I thought the calories burned would go down bc they would be more accurate with the HR but it seems to be the opposite. Any ideas? Thanks0

I have a Fitbit HR (it also monitors your heart rate) & I LOVE IT! I told my mom I wanted one for my birthday last year & she got it for me!
Lucky for you, they now have a variety of colors you can purchase (when I got mine they only had black). One of the features I truly enjoy is the sleep tracker, I always wondered how much sleep I get so I can see how it affects my moods :P Also, at first I wasn't really into the challenges and thought they were cheesy, but the more friends you have in Fitbit (you can get a lot from here!!!) they more fun it is to participate in challenges and if you're the competitive type then this is a great way to start getting active! Haha. & yes I agree with @missblondi2u it does simplify your CICO (Calories IN, Calories Out)
