Gaining weight

I am so frustrated... I have been working out/logging my food for almost 2 months now. Turns out, that this entire time, I've been gaining weight instead of losing it. I started at 135 lbs, now I am 144. I absolutely hate my body, my clothes feel too tight. I am terrified of looking at myself in the mirror. I am 5 ft 2 and this kind of weight gain while dieting and exercising is killing me, is very visible, and downright uncomfortable. My calorie budget is 1300, and I work out at least 3 times a day: weight and cardio. I am not pregnant. I feel stronger, I can jog, ice skate easily, and enjoy my workouts (well, mainly). I don't know what to do, I am at loss, and all I want to do now, after 2 months of hard work, and apparent regression, is to cry.

What do you mean by "turns out"? Weren't you weighing in and watching the trend on the scale?
Unfortunately you are eating too much. Would You like to open your diary? Perhaps we can help.
Food scale. Do you use one?0 -
It is highly likely that you are eating more than you think you are.
Are you weighing all solid foods with a kitchen scale?
Are you measuring all liquids with measuring spoon and measuring cups?
Are you verifying the food database entries you are using?
Are you using lots of generic or homemade entries that you have to entered yourself?
All of these will mess up what you calories actually are.0 -
I have been measuring everything with measuring cups, there are some entries that are homemade (i input as recipes and let it count the calories), but for anything from outside, I use the scanner and compare to what the label says. UnderArmour logs my work out and they are subtracted from my diary, should I disable the calorie subtraction?
I have used MFP before, and been successful, I am not sure what changed.0 -
You need to weigh all your food, and everything that goes into your recipes. Even packaged food can be off.0

How can you "measure" a piece of meat with a measuring cup? Fruit? Grains? Everything solid is by weight0

I actually intentionally did not weigh myself, because I wanted to not freak out. Fluctuations are something that do make me stumble in motivation department, so I thought "let the scale wait a bit". Now I am not so sure it was a good decision.0 -

I hear you. We live and learn. I'm surprised you didn't feel your clothes getting tighter though too!
What's your workout routine?0 -

You're right. I will get one.0 -
The change is likely in you. You are older, and different in other ways as well. Since measuring spoons and cups are obviously not working for you, and possibly the under armor app is possibly giving too much activity calories, a food scale for solids and cutting back on how much of your activity calories you eat might be wise.0

I am currently on 21 day fit extreme, and I try to run on treadmil/jog outside in the woods when the weather is decent.0 -
Yep, start weighing food, watch those calories burned-perhaps only eat back 50%. Use an app to track trend weight to help keep you at ease when you see the fluctuations.0

Thank you so much for your input. Sadly, I tend to agree with both "too many calories" and "age" thing. Ughh. Thanks again!0

Also you said you do weights and cardo. Remember muscle is heavy you could be picking up more muscle mass which in that case you will see weight gain. Or you may have plateau which you may need to change your exercise routine to get better results. However tomorrow for starters look at your food diet and pay attention to everything you are eating and your portions you maybe surprise at the out come.

It doesn't really work that way. She is running mostly cardio, not heavy lifting. If she was in a deficit, she'd be losing. It is difficult for women to build muscle...especially below surplus calories.0 -
@iceflurry looks like we have similar stats, 5'1" 135ish lbs, and similar struggle, feel free to add me as a friend! I too was working very hard, weighing my food, only eating food I could know the exact calories and was also gaining, and very active. But scale is creeping up0

Found out today that i have PCOS. more tests to follow and need to figure out a suitable treatment plan and adjustment in diet. So... if anyone else has a similar problem, see a doctor too.0

Sorry to hear that... I started just counting the calories And not including the exercise I did so I wouldn't want those extra calories that would get back on.. You could try that0
