Hi I'm Pen! I (like many people) draw comfort from food and Sweets are my biggest temptation! In high school I was always self conscious of my weight, but then after taking the depovera shot, I gained 40 lbs over the course of 3 months due to my increase in appetite and POOR eating habits. Initially, I wanted to lose the weight so that I could look great naked and feel sexier around my husband. Now, after seeing diabetes and high blood pressure literally cripple my grandmother, and after my 12 year old sister was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I realized that satisfying my taste buds is not worth diminishing the quality of my life. So now, I work out, and try to stick to clean eating ( raw fruits, veggies, fish, and the occasional lean chicken or
turkey). I dropped 18 pounds total. 10 of those pounds I literally lost in 3 weeks solely from clean eating and detoxing. My goal is only 32 pounds away but I am more determined than ever because I am fighting for my life!

Hi Pen! I too have seen diabetes and poor diet hinder my family and I am worried myself for my future if I don't get on the right path. Unfortunately, I need to lose about 100 lbs! No matter, little by little you and even I can get there! And congratulations on your success so far!
Your post caught my eye bc I'm a foodie too! My weight gain started waaayyyyy back when I started culinary school and then interned at a bakery (talk about temptation!) Now I'm praying the price, and not even in the restaurant field lol I'd love for us to be friends and help motivate each other and maybe even share some yummy AND healthy recipes! :)

Oh wow!! A bakery is definitely temptation! I would love for us to be friends as well and share some healthy recipes because eating out is a bad habit of mine that is known for packing on the pounds. I'm glad we're both fighting for more than just physical appearance! Hopefully, that will be enough to keep us more motivated to continue this life style change!

you can still be a foodie, but you just have to be a smart foodie. get good cookbooks that cook light, go to local places that have light options, or not ans splurge but don't do it all the time.

I think i am more of a foodie now, because I'm more aware of what I am eating

I am also a foodie but I substitute healthier options for the things I use to love. I have had family members go through similar things so it's important for me to be healthy. I allow myself special treats but only small amounts. Feel free to add me as a friend!
