My calorie goal switched

I was using another plan until recently. At the beginning of the week I started using MFP (LOVE it by the way) and entered in my weight for that day. I decided I wanted to know how much I've lost total, between both plans, so today I entered in my starting weight as of 3+ years ago putting January 1st 2013 as the highest weight and leaving this week's weight as it is. For some reason my daily calorie goal switched and gave me 300 more calories. Why would it do that and how can I get it to switch back? If I switch it on my own will it recalculate as I lose weight?

Thanks!

MFP will calculate the amount of calories needed for your body to lose, maintain, or gain weight depending on your current weight. So if you weigh heavier, your body requires more calories to sustain itself. The more weight you lose, the less calories it needs to function, which means you need to consume less calories in order to continue losing weight.

Put your current weight and the calories will adjust accordingly.

The current weight is in mfp. The begginning weight was the only number adjusted.

MFP increased my "Calorie Goal" by 410. I believe it's because I reached my goal; down from 225 to 180. However, now I would like to get to 170 and I updated my goal accordingly. However, MFP still wants me to ingest more calories (perhaps it is pointing me to maintenance?). Is there something I need to correct? Should I really be increasing my intake?
