Weight Loss Shakes

Are they REALLY a good healthy meal substitute? I bought myself the Fit & Active chocolate shake weight loss drinks to substitute for my lunches since I usually wake up too late for breakfast (I have severe sleep problems and have a weird sleep schedule)

Is it truly healthy though? I'm worried I might be losing weight because my body is starving not because I've replaced food.

It depends on the calories and nutrients in those shakes. I wouldn't replace a meal with just that if it's only say 150 calories. I'd eat a piece of fruit or something with it.

Probably not. Have you considered making your own? That way, you can add chia seeds/oats (things that are filling) and can control how much of an ingredient goes into it.

lets see... It says 190 calories.
10g protein, 5g fiber. Crazy amount of vitamins.

My usual lunch used to be either fast food or sandwiches so that's the trade

I've looked into doing that. We had gotten a new blender specifically for that but then fell off the wagon.

I've heard using frozen fruits is just the same as fresh since if we get fresh it usually gets wasted somehow

Are you logging? Plug your stats into MFP, get a calorie goal and start logging. Number of meals, meal timing, and what you eat are personal preference. You need to find a way of eating that keeps you feeling good and gets you the correct amount of calories, and that can take time and some trial & error.

Unless you are obese, @ 1 lb per week weight loss is a good rate of loss. Every once and a while you will lose more or less. If you are losing a lot faster than that on a consistent basis, you should probably eat more.

Personally, I would rather eat my calories than drink them. There is no advantage to drinking a 200 cal shake over eating a 200 cal sandwich. And there is nothing wrong with drinking a shake if you like it, it fills you up, and it fits in your calories for the day.

If you find lack of time knocks you off track, I have found batch-preparing breakfasts and lunches, and pre-logging my meals for the day has really helped me stay on plan. I always leave a few hundred calories un-planned to allow for snacking throughout the day.

That's good. Definitely consider adding another 100 calories with nuts or fruit.

Thank you all for your input and suggestions!! I'm finally fully serious and committed to losing weight and I wanna do this right. Hopefully our next grocery shopping trip will help me keep this planned better.

I don't mind the shakes; tbh they help also with my random chocolate craving I get although I have little calorie packs for that.
