OK...chicken wings have 3 parts actually. so when looking for a calorie count for Hooters Chicken Wings and it says 866 calories, is that 866 for 5 whole wings (total of 15 pieces...which would be a lot of chicken IMO) OR 5 pieces, which then goes into debate as to which pieces, since each of the 3 is a different size with a different amount of meat on it.....? Anyone know???..this is my husband's fault-he brought some home last night that were bought for him but he doesn't like them; I hate throwing them out BUT if is that many calories for 5 pieces, I gotta say, it isn't worth it,,,,,,

Does Hooters sell "Whole Chicken Wings?" But I think 866 calories is a LOT for 5 "Drummets" and a Little for 15 pieces. You prolly should go to their website or get a better estimate.0 -
866 is for the whole order.0

Generally speaking, wings are about 80 - 100 calories a piece. However they can vary quite a bit from place to place. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that an order of wings at Outback (8 total) was 1,377 calories, 99.5 grams of fat and 3819 mg of sodium. I used to eat wings at least once a week. Now I can't justify them. =/0

I know exactly how many calories there are in chicken wings. Too many, throw them out!
The trouble is, there's a lot of fat in the skin, and a lot of commercially produced wings are deep fried which adds even more fat. If you do eat them, put them in a slow oven for ages first and you'll be shocked at how much fat flows out of them, even if they'd already been cooked.
Grr.. I fancy wings now! *shakes fist at OP* :bigsmile:I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that an order of wings at Outback (8 total) was 1,377 calories, 99.5 grams of fat and 3819 mg of sodium. I used to eat wings at least once a week. Now I can't justify them. =/0 -

OK, so I'm going out for wings tonight. I know I'll be eating wings because it is 35 cent wing night. Now, the restaurant considers "a wing" one piece of a wing - either the drumette or the piece with two bones (don't know what to call that one - forearm? No one really answered this question. When looking up the calorie count for wings, is it for a whole intact wing, the drumette or both? Most people don't serve the little pointy part. Any wing lovers out there with answers?
Thanks!0 -

and i look at each wing as one mile of running to burn.
I still eat them though, just not as often and an order of 10 instead of 15, and make sure I still fit it in the days cal count. Once you add in the bleu cheese or ranch to dip it in they seem more hassle than they ar worth and would rather get a footlong sub at subway and have MORE food to fill me up AND the veggies/meat and grains.
Too bad too cause I love me some wings.!0 -
So are you using 100 calories for the whole wing or each piece? I'm still not sure what you're considering "a wing". Thanks for responding.0

You are never going to get a good calorie count for wings. Even if you know whether the listing is talking about whole wings (yes, the king Hooters sells) or wing pieces (drummettes and whatever those other pieces are called), there are still too many variables - wing size, oil temp and cooking time (makes a difference in how much oil is absorbed), breading, sauces, how much of the wing you actually consume.0
