How would you log this?

Since I don't have a heart rate monitor, I'm just wondering how you would log this workout.

I push a double jogging stroller with a 25 pound toddler and 40 pound toddler in it while carrying my 18 pound infant in a snuggle for 30 minutes at 3mph?

Thanks

Very low resistence unless your doing alot of hills. Even then , those strollers are made to push easy, I would just record as doing it by your self.

I always wondered the same thing, no matter how "easy" the stroller is to push, its still pushing 70lbs+. I always just logged it as walking though.

Its not pushing 70lbs, lifting 70lbs from the ground means fighting resistence of gravity, If you had that weight on a prowlet sled then yes. that would be hard.the wheels reduce the resistence greatly, you did the right thing by recording as walking. At most you could add 25lbs to your BW in calculating to account for the added effort.

Backpack---way different. not only are you carrying more weight but the leverage is different and center of gravity makes it even more of an effort meaning more calories burned.

FYI, At the end of the 3rd phase of Seal training, canidates have to wear a 40lb rucksack, run 14 miles in teams of about 8 while one team member is being carried the whole time!!! Damn crazy!

Hear that moms? If you wanted a REALLY tough job you should've become a Navy Seal instead of just a wussy mommy!

I have a 4 seater stroller with a bum wheel that makes the right side so hard to push...all 4 seats filled with 2 year olds I stiil count it as a brisk walk for however long we walked that day..I do pat myself on the back for having done it but only count the calories as if I was walking just myself...it is harder and I feel more tired at the end but I always think of the great leg and arm muscles I'm gaining:smile:

there is "Walking with a 15 pound load " in the datebase. Perhaps use this but add a few extra minutes to what you actually walked.

That sounds perfect, for the mom pushing 4, 2yr olds, double that.

Why is the backpack way different, I'm not only pushing 70+ pounds, I'm also carrying my 18 pound baby?

    Awesome!

Sure being a mom isn't the toughest job out there but it's pretty high up there! My husband couldn't be a stay at home parent...he's tried!

It wouldn't do any harm to log it as less work to create a larger deficit. I'm not sure if you're looking to account for ever.single.calorie.burned, because that doesn't seem like an option in the database. I'd log it as walking w/ a 15lb load and know I burned a few extra calories in the process :-)
